Conrad K Bye and wife Randine are first found in the 1900 US Census. Daughter Christina was born in Norway. I have a lot of information on this family in America but can not trace them back to Norway. Any help will be appreciated. The middle name of Knutsen may be speculative.

Randi or Randine or Anne Randine may have the last name of Christophersdatter if this record from ELCA is correct. Also a family tree lists Conrad's middle name as Knutsen, no source given.
Conrad K Bye in the U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Records, 1875-1940 Name: Conrad K Bye Spouse: Randi Christopher Church Name: Canton Lutheran Church Church Location: Canton, South Dakota
By 1905 they are found living in Minneapolis.
Conrad K Bye in the Minnesota, Territorial and State Censuses, 1849-1905 Name: Conrad K Bye Age: 48 Census Date: 10 Jun 1905 County: Hennepin Locality: Minneapolis Ward 11 Birth Location: Norway Gender: Male Estimated birth year: abt 1857 Race: White Father's Birth Location: Norway Mother's Birth Location: Norway LINE: 3 Roll: MNSC_127
Conrad can be found in the 1910, 1930, and 1940 US Census living in Minneapolis. His birth year varies from 1857 to 1861 His arrival year is given as either 1883 or 1884 that I have found. |

Oh, thats a keeper. Good find. I wonder if the K in his name is for Kristian and not for Knudsen. |

Yes agreed Knut Conrad Knutson no longer viable in any way.
Here is link to the death record transcription of Conrad's wife. Note her name given as Anna Randine and her father's name Lars Christopherson so she may be found as Larsdatter in Norwegian records? https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FD79-8DP |

What was the actual date Conrad and Randine married?
Here is a possible: Konrad Kristians. Ringsaker 23 15.09.1882 Fergus Falls Emigranter over Kristiania 1871-1930, redigert utgave
I didn't find a Konrad Kristiansen Bye in Ringsaker but a Kristian Kristiansen Bye #37: Source information: Hedmark county, Ringsaker, Parish register (official) nr. 11 (1870-1878), Confirmation records men 1875, page 265. Okay here is a good possible in Ringsaker in 1865 1875 mentioned as a Maelerdreng, painters assistant:
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/ft/person/pf01052059004428
At Chronicling America reported in 9 July 1909, pg 5 col 2 of the Dakota Farmers' Leader published in Canton, S.D. that Conrad Bye of Minneapolis returned for a visit with his friends. Conrad and his son are reported to have a "very successful" house painting and decorating business in Minneapolis.
An earlier paper 1904 or so mentioned that Conrad Bye had just finished painting and papering Tossini's Market.
Here is Conrad Christiansen's baptism in Nes, Hedmark 1859 #149: Source information: Hedmark county, Nes, Parish register (official) nr. 4 (1852-1886), Birth and baptism records 1859, page 60. Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8848&idx_id=8848&uid=ny&idx_side=-64

I've searched the ELCA databases at archives.com several different ways but have yet to find a marriage for Conrad Bye & Randine. There was this record however which assigns him a birthplace of Hallingdal Norway. When I looked at the original entry his entry is a ditto mark of the word Norway. Hallingdal is written above Norway on the person prior to Conrad. So I take it with a grain of salt:
Conrad Bye Death Record Birth Place Hollinghal Noway Death Date Mar 12, 46 Record Type death Record. Burial Date Mar 18, 46 Church Trinity Lutheran Church Location Minnesota Event Type Death
Randine Bye Death Record Birth Place Norway Death Date Apr 17, 1930 Record Type Death Record Burial Date Apr 19, 1930 Church Trinity Lutheran Church Location Minnesota Event Type deaths
Each are buried in Crystal Lake cemetery |
