In the baptism record for Lovise Kristine born 1881 the father is llisted as Emil Edvardsen Norsted. Any guess as to where Norsted is located.
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7752&idx_id=7752&uid=ny&idx_side=-18
In this version of the records the fathers birth year is listed as 1858.
These are the farms in Buskerud with similar names to Norsted.
From Rygh 90 Nærstad Haug Norderhov Buskeruds amt

Thanks for the tip Jackie.
I did find the family in the online Hole bygdebok that you pointed me to.They are described at the husmansplass Løkka under the farm Bjørnstad. They warrent about a page with much of the description focused on Kristoffer Andreassen f 1827 and in 1865 he was 39 years old and lived as blacksmith and cotter without land (husmann uten jord) in Løkken with wife Lovise Arnesdatter 38 and five children. Only two of the children were born at Løkken and the others were born in Bærum. Randine f 1852. But nothing is said about what became of her. The other children also get only a brief mention along with the birth year. One son, Karl, rates a small paragraph.
Part of the page describes how in the 1850's was sent the son of the known Tyslandssmed of husmannsplass Tysland under Skui i Bærum down as husmann here. He used the same craft as his father so that now Hole had a tyslands smed.
Interesting but no info on the future fate of Randine. |

Although I did not find any new information in the Bygdebok, I did stumble across this long story about a family from Blakstad, Akershus that starts back in 1614 with Ellev Eriksen and ends up at Andreas Madsen the grandfather of Anne Randine. Here is a bit of the story. I will add a link in case you would like to read it all. It seems to tie into the above data well especially where Anne Randine's father died in Canton South Dakota in 1912 and the connection with blacksmiths.
When Andreas Madsen is 14 yrs old, he became an apprentice as a blacksmith (smed) at Baerum's Iron Works. There he stayed under he mar Randi Arnesdtr b. Nov 12, 1802 d. Apr 28, 1875 from Listua blacksmith shop in East Baerum. Andreas and Randi bought property called Tyslandslokken, (in 1865 it was eventually called Tysland situated by road to Ringerike under southern Skui, where he lived the rest of his life.
The Tysland blacksmiths were well known all over Baerum and other places. In 1835 he was cottier with land and blacksmith. His sons all grew up and learned to be blacksmiths, in Norway and USA. They had plenty of work, because the road connected to vital industries, transporting wood, ore, and charcoal, etc.
Andreas and Randi had eleven children. 1. Maren Andreassen Tysland b. 1824 d. 1923 in Waterville, IA (Lansing) mar Jens Larsen Okre (Okri) 2. Arne Andreassen b. 1825 d. 1910 Skui, Baerum, Akershus co 3. Cristoffer Tysland b. 1827 d. 1912 Canton, Lincoln Co., S.D. 4. Karl Andreassen b. 1829 drowned at 3 5. Hans Andreassen b. 1831 killed accidentally by shot from brother Cristoffer, at age 2. 6. Twin Joh;an Tysland b. 1831 Skui 7. Karl Hamang b. 1832 d. 1921 Sandvika, Akershus co. 8. Hans Nordli b. 1834 d. 1921 Roiken twp, Buskerud co. 9. Anders Tysland b. 1838 or 1839 d. 1920 Waterville, IA 10. Anne Marie b. 1839 or 1841 d. 1896 Oslo 11. Casper Andreassen Tysland b. 1844 or 1846 d. 1903 Edison Twp, Minnehaha Co., SD

Great photos Jan Peter many thanks.
An little update,, when Lovise Christina's baptism record was found Emil Eedevartsen the father was listed as from Norstad. Jan Pterer found an excellent candidate born in 1858 at Norsted, Løten and he and his family were found in the 1865 census at Norsted, His famiy were found at Norsted in 1875 but no Emil.
This is likely him in Kristiania in the 1875 Census using the name Emil Norstad.
