Guri Johnsdatter's siblings:

Jens Jonsen b 11 Feb 1840 in 1889 took Kvamshaugen on odel right m. in Norway and had 10 children he died 1944.

Kari Jonsdatter b 17 Oct 1841 moved to Hurum and married there

Ola Jonsen b 19 Aug 1843 moved to Tysnæs, Sunnhjordland

Lars Jonsen twin to Ola d 1871 unmarried

Birgit Jonsdatter b 21 May 1846 moved to Lillestrøm

Gunhild Jonsdater b22 Mar 1848 married Knut Rognaldson Nygard from Sudndalen

Borghild Jonsdatter b 10 June 1851 m Tor Knutson Lappegard from Aal had at least 3 children then moved to Aal.

Rangdi Jonsdatter b 22 Apr 1853 "var 1 April 1876 teken av ei skrie I Tverrån og miste livet" There is a long paragraph detailing the story on her.

Gro Jonsdatter b 2 Nov 1855 married Embrikk Tolleivsen Augunset.

Guri Jonsdatter b 1858 moved to US married there

Tomas Jonsen b 6 Feb 1861 left betrothed to Guri Jonsdatter Bakkegard to US in 1881, Guri moved after and they married in US

Again, thank you for all your help. My family tree has grown several times over on several different family lines due to the kind assistance of so many in this forum over the last several years. Now that I know where Guri came from, I just need to figure out where her first husband Lars came from and what happened to him. I would think his unusual death would have been mentioned in a local newspaper, or as has been mentioned here, that it would show up in a church record somewhere.

There are four Lars Knudsens in the 1865 Norwegian Census born 1862 to 1864 in Al, Buskerud. You can find all of them by searching the Advanced search in the NHDC Census site. Put in Lars Knudsen and both from 1862 to 1864 for Buskerud.

I chose this one as a candidate because of his connection to Haugen. Note the connection to Opphemishagen for the mothher.

Actually this one is from Hol. Folk og Fortid I Hol Vol 5 pg 606 says he went to Stundalen in Aurland and later is thought to have gone to Gudbrandsdal.
