Some time ago one of the moderators on the forum indicated that Myllarguten lived in proximity to one of my ancestors in Telemark. I think the topic was my ancestor Eric Helland. The Helland's were fiddle makers and musicians in the early 1800's in Sauherad ??

Any information on Targjei in his formative years and where (farm) he may have lived ..?...

Targjei was bapt.Torger Augensson Nov. 1. 1801. He was born on a sub farm under Ryntveit (Rĝntvedt).
Parents: Augen Torgersen and Gunild Sigurdsdatter, see right page from bottom line 11&12

I share the same ancestors on his fathers side.
My GGGrandfather Jens Rollevsen b. 1798 in Sauherad was Myllarguten's cousin

Myllarguten means the Millerboy.
Myllarguten was Norway's most famous fiddler.

The Hellands were fiddle maker, it's supposed that Myllarguten's favourite fiddle was made by Erik Helland

Lots of info about him here

I can bring up more info, photo of the cabin he grew up if its not to well hidden on my computer.

Close to, 100 meter, from Akkerhaugen Camping, Sauherad called Myllargut-parken, The Millerboys Park

It's in Norwegian, down page "Myllargutstugo (Millerboys cabin)

Second chapter, blue background, two photos of the cabin, the photo in color shows the cabin after it was restored in 2004. The local name of the sub farm was Gunnarsrud link

My GGrandfather Ole's brother Halvor Jensen b. 1833 lived on Gunnarsrud until he died after 1910.

More photos of Myllargutstugo down page

Kċre

An old table from Gunnarsrud is kept on farm Aanaas/Ċnċs.

Hi

Myllarguten is burried by Rauland church.
You see his gravestone in this video about 04:26 and then his wife Ingebjĝrg's grave:

If I figure out how to do it, I'll post a photo of his last home in Arabygdi.
