Catherine was born in Irland.

There are over 100 Catherine Smiths in the same cemetery as Matthew. When you are on Matthew's Find a Grave site there is a list of places named on the right hand edge of the screen and you can click to see all the people named Smith in the cemetery. Be prepared for a lang sit, there are 2200 Smith burials in the cemetery.

But take the plot information from Matthew's, since it's likely you will have to look at each one to see if any particular Catherine may be buried in the same plot.

In the 1910 Norwegian census, he is listed but there is a note which says he has been in America the last 5 years.

What caused you to make the Mads Christian Smith Jørstad to Mathew Smith connection?
