Not sure if the links provided will work at this moment as I was just ther and got a message that the site was down for maintenance.

Good point about there potentially being children. Hmm... Would be pretty cool if we still have relatives in Hammerfest. Any ideas about how to track that down?

The site is down here, too. I have Mom on the line, also. She's logging in as me until she gets her own account. We are both so excited to finally have information about her grandmother!! :)

Thank you all SOO much!!

Elise's Mom, Linda, here. Is there any way to find out if Susanah was Sami? The very little bit of information my aunt gave me (everyone who knew anything has died long ago) points to that.

Here from Ancestry.com is a link to a picture of the ship "Egypt" that Susanah travelled on from Liverpool, England to New York. She would have used a feeder ship to travel from Trondheim to England.

The records from Ancestry.com would indicate that Eilert Esaissen was married twice. The Digitalarkivet record refers to him as a widower age 54 and his new wife Margrethe Olsdatter as 28.

So far I haven't seen anything in the records that indicates Sami origin for this family. Doesn't mean it can't be, but just not found. The family seems employed as fishers but not nomadic herding as a lot of Sami are.

Isak Hansen and Nikoline Hansine Nilsdatter were married Nov 25 1888, #7.
No children of their own 12 years later in 1900 census indicates they did not have any own children.
