That answers my querey about Paal. I see the modern Norwegian naming system is now using surnames rather than datter and sen I know the system changed in the 1920s but didnt know how the new system worked. Also I assumed wrongly that Martine and Ole Kristian only had a daughter called Mathine. Thanks for that info JK

Well folks my quest to find family in Vestfold is complete. On behalf of all my family please accept our thanks for all your help and knowledge I would never had done this without you.

My next quest is to follow our Swedish roots. Again thanks to people here I have a name and a birth place in Sweden to begin my search. One last question does anyone here have any suggestions of the best way to go about searching Swedish records also is there a Swedish forum site like this forum.

There are sites for Swedish Genealogy. They are more like the Forum's on the Norwegian sites. That is like "Brukernes eget forum" on Digitalarkivet than like this site.

For searching for information I prefer to use Ancestry.com as I have been a member for a long time and understand how it works. Family Search is also useful and has much the same information as Ancestry.com and is free..

But here are some links. The site Swedish Roots has some pages in English which helps.

Swedish Roots.

They have a forum called Anbatyrforum. It also has an English page and you can post your query in English. You do need to join.

https://forum.rotter.se

They do have a separate section called "Discussions in English". for people wanting to post questions in English.
