Hello All:
My great grandfather Iver Larsen Hauge was lost at sea with a recorded death date of April 18 1889. He was born 1831 in Sogn Norway and lived in Kristiansund at the time of death with family, including my grandmother Karoline.
His previous ships were the Ogir or Aegir, which in 1875 sailed out of possibly Rotterdam and Drammen according to some sources.
Can anyone tell me how to find out which ship he was on when he died and any other details (storm at sea? etc.)
Many thanks for any help you can give me.
Mange tack!
Inez Schey Bergquist

This is the only newspaper that popped up with a search for "Iver Larsen Hauge." No additional detail other than his age

For some other ship names that he served on beside Øgir, #206 in the 1860s
SAT, Sjøinnrulleringen - Trondhjemske distrikt, 01/L0032: --, 1860

His birthplace in the 1865 census is given as Lyster:

There is in fact a burial record for him in Kristiansund. (Fourth entry on the left.)

Many thanks! Presumably if he has a burial record he was not "lost" at sea. I can't read the line before his name-does it give a cause of death? Is there any way we can find that out, maybe on a death certificate? I tried some records in Ancestry.com for Norway but a death record did not come up. Thank you!

Cause of death reads pulmonary tuberculosis.

The words before his name is "Gift matros".... married sailor.
