Hello, I am part of the berg lineage and I want to learn more about our past. My great great grandfather is Carl berg and he was married to Otilie Berg. I was wondering someone could help and also if there are anymore family left over there?

Yes that’s them! I don’t really know much past my great grandfather Olof berg. I met most of my grandpas siblings, is there any more bergs in Norway? I just know that they moved to North Dakota but that’s about it.

Here are some basic biographical data about the family:
http://digitalhorizonsonline.org/digital/collection/ndsl-books/id/70928

In the picture in the McHenry county history, both Olaf and Edwin are in their respective uniforms. Here is Edwin's service record (as maintained by the State of North Dakota):
http://digitalhorizonsonline.org/digital/collection/p16921coll3/id/67547

And Olaf's: http://digitalhorizonsonline.org/digital/collection/p16921coll3/id/67549

The book says the picture is "late 1940s" but Olaf was separated on 31 Oct 1945, odds are that the picture more likely dates to the mid 1940s.

Baptism record for Carl, He was born April 6, 1883. I did notice that the emigration record had the year 1882, but did have the day and month correct.

Here is Carl (Karl) with his parents and siblings in the 1891 Census. His fathers last name is spelled Embretsen in this record. Spelling can be somewhat variable in Norwegian records.

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01052731000443

The marriage record gives the father of the bride and groom. Based on that, this is likely the baptism of the mother of Carl,

Dina Bergersen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Dina Bergersen
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 4 feb 1847
Baptism Date: 7 mar 1847
Baptism Place: Sor Odal,Hedmark,Norway
Father: Berger Bergersen
Mother: Eli Andersdr
FHL Film Number: 124378

Third record from the bottom, right hand page.

Based on the same marriage record. This is likely the baptism record for the father of Carl, Martin Engebretsen. The parish is listed as Strom, Which is a sub-parish of the main parish Sør-Ordal. In this case the last name is spelled Ingebretsen for Martin by the Transcriber., but should have been spelled Engebretsen after the name of the father Engebret.

Martin Ingebretsen
in the Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Name: Martin Ingebretsen
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 4 nov 1854
Baptism Date: 26 nov 1854
Baptism Place: Strom,Hedmark,Norway
Father: Engebret Olsen
Mother: Anne Bergersdr
FHL Film Number: 307236

Nr. 221

Here is Berger Jonsen born about 1786 in the 1801 Census. He is living at Oudahls Jern Værk 7. Jern Verk translates as Iron Works. . His parents are Jon Jansen and Kari Bergersdatter

https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01058239000046

And his future wife Dorte Mikkelelsdatter born about 1789. Her parents are Mekkel Jansen and Marte Andersdatter in the census but it also says that Marte is the second wife so the mother of Dorte could be another lady. . Farm is Walstad

Usually when you trace a family this far back in time, you can find a Family Tree online that will take you even further back. The issue is of course is how accurate is the tree. Here is one on Familysearch. Familysearch is a free site but you do have to register to use it.

The site looks fairly accurate and it does have some sources.

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/KH2F-FFS

The site does have your ancestor Berger Bergersen.
But start with the parents Beger Jonsen Jonsrud and Dorte Mikkelsdatter and work back in time.
