Hoping for any help or advice with the birth and death dates for Aslak Olesen and the death date for his wife Margit Nerisdatter.

History of Aslach or Aslak Olesen

Born: 1791 or 1792 ?? (Marriage record has his age at 26) (Unable to read if it includes his parents)

1801 Census: He can be one of these? Thinking the first one is more likely because it is at Lårdal, Telemark

The couple had a daughter in 1819. She is named Liv. Fits the couple above. Aslach has a mother named Liv and farm is Solberg.

And a son named Ole born in 1820. Again likely named after the father of Aslach. And the farm is Solberg

Based on Aslach born 28 June 1790, Laardal, Telemark having parents named Ole Knudsen and Liv Jacobsdatter Solberg and the first two children named Ole and Live, I would say that the odds greatly favor your first choice.

It is true that Ole, Liv and children did not live on Solberg in the 1801 Census.

Perhaps someone with a Norwegian IP address can look for the family and clear up some of the issues.

I do notice that when Ole Knudsen and Liv Jacobsdatter married the farm is also Solberg.

One of the witnesses is named Knud Solberg. Could be the father of Ole?

Neri A Bergestig and wife Ragnild Olsdatter baptise son Alfred in Christiania Lutheran Church, Lakeville Minesota on June 1, 1884.

On Ancestry there are several other matches for Neri A Bergestig in the same churchbook, with Neri transcibed as Nere, Nero, Nore etc.

And Ole A Bergestig appears in the same churchbook. Could this be a place to look for the burials of the parents?

Thank you Anton and Tore. No wonder I couldn't find any death records in Norway - they were in America! I had thought Guro (my GG Grandmother) had come by herself in 1855. I had never come across the farm name Bergestig either. Lots of Solberg in their names but not the Bergestig. Evidently the marriage records incorrectly listed Aslach's age as 26. I found the marriage record at Ancestry.com, familysearch and Digitalarkivet and all 3 listed Aslach Olssen and Margit (Margith-Margath) Nerisdatter with the ages of 26 and 22 years old. Interesting that you found one with a spouse of Marie Andresdatter with the matching data. I will proceed looking for their death records/graves in the Lakeville MN area. It's so good to have Aslak's parents confirmed as well. I had them listed as a possibility but kept ruling them out when I considered Aslack's age. You guys do a wonderful job.

Neri apparently moved on to North Dakota, where he was buried under the name of Neri Alexson:

The entry above again links to this site:

I did find Aslak's burial in the same churchbook. He died in 1865. Parents Ole/Olaf and Liv, and reference to Bergestig:

A membership list for the congregation, with Neri, Aslak, Margit and Ole occurring next to each other, but without the daughters.
