Lars Larsen, born 01 March 1883
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20050808020326

Anfind Larsen, born 11 December 1888
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20050808020336

They are brothers. Parents are Lars Larsen & Anne Gurine Jakobsdr
Census 1891: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01052959000578

Not sure about the Anfin you refer to, but possibly a 2nd cousin or something. For sure not a sibling or a 1st cousin.

Thanks for speedy reply. Great help!

Looks like there are 2 different Anfins.

1. Anfin born 1888 is Lars' brother. What happened to him?

2. Anfin born 1 March 1885 with parents Annanias and Gurine. Found him in USA. Died 1932 Princeton, Minn. Is this Anfin related to Lars and his brother Anfin?

Anfin Ølfernæs was congratulated on his 70th birthday in the local newspaper in December 1958.
It says he took over the home farm in 1930, and was running a nice and well kept orchard. The district is the centre of fruit growing in Norway.
The local farm history book says he was single, and that his brother Lars L. Ølfernæs was a farmer in America.

Thanks to Anton for 1910 Census.
Amazing photo and info from the newspaper. Is the local history book available online?

Only from within Norway.

It says another brother; Jacob Larsen Ølfernæs, was married to Gunnhild Thorsdatter Tveit, and they were running the Tveit farm. Their children:
1. Lars J. Ølfernæs 1911, fruit trader in Bergen. Married to Margit Husdal. 1 child.
2. Marie 1914, married to Vidar Mæland, tailor in Etne
3. Anna 1918
4. Tora 1920 married to Rasmus Økland, merchant in Bergen. 1 child
5. Arne 1922
6. Gunnar 1925

Lars, Anfin and Jacob also had a sister Martha b 1891, married in Stavanger.

Looks like Lars was the only sibling who emigrated.
He was going to an Uncle Lars In South Dakota. Looks like last name Boid, or Baid, or Bard written on the Ellis Island record.

Is this Uncle Lars - brother to his mother or his father?

Looks like Uncle Lars lived at Hetland SD. Kingsbury Co. with DeSmet as county seat.

Most children of our Lars Alferness show their birthplace as DeSmet SD. Some were baptized at West Bethany Lutheran Church, Erwin SD

So the Ellis Island spelling was pretty close as "Uncle Lars Boid." He really came over early - 1874. Great how you can find so much information so quickly. Thank you!

Our Lars(born 1883) - arrived in SD 1903. Got married to Bessie Olson there before 1906. ND Death cert -Bessie born 11 Nov 1881 Norway, parents Ole and Carie Seim.

Census records give Bessie's emigration year as 1900. Don't know if she came alone or with family.

I think this must be your Bessie Olson:
Britha Olsen Seim emigrating from Ulvik on 1900-05-01
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/8/pe00000000697537

Brita
Born 13 November 1882 Granvin, Ulvik, Hordaland, Norway
Parents: Ole Samsonsen Kaalskaar & Kari Brynjulfdatter Seim
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/kb20070103680130

Ole Samsonsen Kaalskaar = Olav Samsonson Seim, b. 1859-08-25, Voss, d. Tyssedal: 1931-03-14.
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/267/pg00000001746510

The Granvin farm history book says Olav/Ole and Kari's daughter Brita emigrated to Amerika.
Her brother Olav (b 1887) emigrated in 1905.
Her brother Jens (b 1892) emigrated to America.

I would not be surprised if you find Olav and Jens in the Hetland, Kingsbury county area...

This is amazing - we never would have found her as Bessie. Thanks so much.
She must have been coming to South Dakota for a reason - probably brothers, as you said.

On immigration records, will have to look for Britta Olsen Seim.
