I was thinking it was the name Morris but is indexed twice as Morvis. So Morvis Larson living with sister Gussie Work in 1920 census:
Name:
Morvis Larson
Census Year:
1920
Gender:Male
Age:37
Marital Status:Single
Race:White
Relationship:Head
Residence:Boise, Ada, Idaho, United States
Birthplace:Norway
Birth Year:1883
Household Members:NameAge
Gussie Work 35
Fay Work 2
Gladys Pharris 15

In the 1950 census Gussie Work is living with her husband Joseph Work but listed as sep separated. Here is his death record in 1951:
https://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Record/View/8781C45230A581F28FF444D1E97FCA93

Here is Joseph Work along with brother John Work and daughter Fay Work in 1930 census:
Name: Joseph Work
Census Year: 1930
Gender:Male
Age:60
Marital Status:Divorced
Race:White
Relationship: Head
Residence:Vancouver, Clark, Washington, United States
Birthplace: Iowa
Birth Year:1870
Household Members:Name Age
John S Work 65
Fay Work 13

Gussie's other daughter Gladys Pharris gets married in Washington to L.R. Hickerson in 1924:
https://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Record/View/65F1B89BB49DB63AF8DD898EADDF0B5A

Gussie for her, at least, 3rd marriage to Edward Richardson:
https://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Record/View/4101613922C856BE44DE266EDC00845B

This may be Gussie's death record but the birthdate is off a bit from the one in Norway:
Name Gussie B Work
Event Type Death
Event Date 12 Aug 1963
Event Place Los Angeles, California, United States
Birth Date 03 Feb 1882
Birthplace Norway
Gender Female
Mother's Name Malman

Gussie Work was a bit of a "corker". She was arrested for trespassing and disorderly conduct when she aggressively tried to get someone to sign a "Stockholm peace petition". She was found guilty of trespassing and fined but not jailed. And there is a really nice picture of her (for a newspaper that is) in this issue: The Oregonian Wednesday, Aug 16, 1950 Portland, OR Page: 10

Here is a family tree with Gussie, her parents and her children but none of her siblings:
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/L64H-5L8

The tree might not have all of Gussie's marital history.

Gussie's divorce from Edward Richardson was reported granted in San Francisco in this issue of San Francisco Chronicle.Friday, Jun 12, 1931. San Francisco, CA, Page: 10 , col 8.

Gussie's filing for divorce based on cruelty was reported in San Francisco in this issue of San Francisco Chronicle,Friday, Jun 12, 1931, San Francisco, CA, Page: 10 column 7.

In a newspaper article from San Francisco Chronicle Sunday, Jul 06, 1930 San Francisco, CA Page: 60 (digital) print page 14 concerning two apparently arson fires one in which 3 people were injured, Mrs. Gussie Richardson was mentioned as the sister of Louis Schroeder (one of the injured) and another of the injured was a man named Maurice Larson. I think the relationships were misconstrued and that Maurice Larson is actually Morvis Larson who lived with Gussie in the 1920 census.

Here he is living in San Francisco in the 1930 census:

I'm sorry for the lack of info in the first post. Didn't think it would blow up so fast!

https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/71147122/person/34231981868/hints?usePUBJs=true

He was living in Jewell County Kansas at the time of marriage. Thanks to the other posts, I stumbled upon this census from Kansas.

It's hard to believe in such a small area of the country there would be two similarly named families. The last name is Larason though. There is an Emma Larson listed, a female M. Larson that could be Minnie and a male M. Larson that could be Morvis, and a G Larason that could be Gussie. The dates aren't exact though. Is this common for census data to be different? and is it normal in your experience for names to change?

I've never been able to make the connection between Ben Martin Larson and the M Larson we are searching for. Even Martin is unconfirmed. Thoughts?

Your link to the Ancestry.com does not allow anyone including subscribers to Ancestry.com to view the Tree. You get this message.

Here is the Census. Not everyone uses Ancestry.com. Are you thinking that the people in this Censud are related to your Laurence Larson? That has some validity in that Jewel County Kansas is only about 25 miles away from Superior County, Nebraska, where we have found many members of the family. The birth year for Martin is off but that is not unusual. A Larason could be wife Ann and the birth year is close. The C fits Lodvig Christian Martinsen born in 1872 in Norway.

Back to your post above giving us some info that you found on a family from Jewel County, Kansas. There are a large number of Trees on your Martin Larson on Ancestry.com. Most of them have some useful information and links but also it is apparent that most of them have a lot of useless and misleading information especially on the family background in Norway.

It will be quit e a chore to separate out the wheat from the chaff on this one. Especially regarding Martin Larson in America.

I think that the family that Jackie found in the 1875 Norwegian Census gives a good picture of your family from Norway.

Here is the Ancestry.com version of the that 1875 Census info.

Proper spelling is an acquired talent and only since Webster has it been a virtue. Census takers would often write what they heard rather than ask about a spelling.

Here is the first page of the Larason listings in Jewell Kansas 1895:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS3B-SJHT?i=13&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQL8J-VD3X

Here is the second page of the 1895 census of Kansas:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS3B-SJH2?i=14&cc=1825193

Martin Larson and Ane Gabrielsdatter did have a son Jon born in Norway. This is the transcribed version of his birth/ baptism record:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000023369564

And this is the link to the image version of the record:
#27 John born 17 May 1880 (that's like being born on the 4th of July)

A Martin Larsen took an 80 acre original entry homestead in Jewell county proved up 28 Sept 1891.
KS 6th PM 002S - 007W W½SW¼ 13 Jewell

And the same or a different Martin Larsen took another original entry homestead of 40 acres, proving up 16 Sept 1904:
KS 6th PM 002S - 007W SE¼NE¼ 13 Jewell

There is a Martin & Anna Larson couple of approximate correct ages in 1905 Jewell county census but they are recorded as born Sweden. Don't rule them out yet because until 1905 Norway was under a Swedish ruler. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS7Q-Z9LM-5?cc=2659394&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQPJG-B44Y

I made this list up from the DA records. If I missed any children let me know and I will add them. Mostly I made the list to keep from going crazy as there seem to be a lot of children. Some of them may have died young.

Martin Larsen and Ane Gabriesldatter had the following children.
Lauritz 1869
Bertha Jorina 1871
Ludvig Christian 1873
Ole Gabriel 1874
Elisabeth 1876
Ane Martha 1878
John 1880
Mauritz 1881
Gustava 1884
