Do you know anything about their families? The original of the marriage record seems to indicate that Hilda came from Södra Finnskoga, Värmland, i.e., in Sweden right across the border from Grue. Have you looked for them in Swedish sources?

In the 1875 census there is a comment taler norsk , i.e., speaks Norwegian. This could be an indication that his family was of finnish descent. Many people of finnish ethnicity was living in this area, on both sides of the Norwegian-Swedish border.

Edit: I just noticed there is a Geni profile for Ole Arnesen, where both his father and Karelius' mother have Finnish surnames.

Yes,I see, sorry, but not same family. Karelius born 1862 is a half brother of my great grandmother Karen Olsdatter born 1881, she was from the second marriage of Ole Arnesen. Her mother was Inger Olsdatter.
And yes these people were of finnish descent.

Excuse me, that was an error. Charles Nord was a brother-in-law.

In the marriage record for Karelius and Hilda, I read Hilda's father's name as Johan Nielsen Hjerpberget. Hjerpberget seems to have been a cotter's place (Torp in Swedish) about 5kms into Sweden. Torpet Hjerpberget is written in red in the middle at the bottom of the map at page 11 in this issue of a magazine for a Värmland geneaologist association. Skrockarberget /Skråckarberget is shown at the top of the same map.
