Interseting.
Drange was used as lastname in 1869, changed to Langhus later (Langhus-Longhouse)
The family lived on farm Drange in 1865 (Drange-peak upright cliff)

This looks like the family in the 1865 Census. Father listed as Maavrits Larsen. Karen Sophia last in the family.

Jackie,
Yes that is the right Hans and Ida. I am not sure if Hans is linked to the Gilbertsons that they were searching for in this post? I was unsure if Ida was from Norway as well, looks like she probably wasn't. Thanks

Hey Sylvia,

It seems very unlikely that your Hans Gilbertson is related to the original people sought in the post. Those folks left from Vestfold which is in southern Norway and Hans was from Finnmark way up at the tippy northern top of Norway. Apparently, Hans was an only child of his parents and was raised by his mother's mother who also eventually came to America.

But Hans may have other relatives in America. When Hans came to America his destination was his uncle, Edward Tronnes in Shelly Minnesota. I'm not sure which Edward Tronnes this is as there were several in the Clay Co / Norman Co area and its possible that Edward was an uncle by marriage rather than blood.

Ida was born in Minnesota but each of her parents came from Norway and we have found places in Norway for both of Ida's parents on forum.

Thank you. My Grandma, Hans eldest daughter, recently passed away so I was just curious about the origins of the family. I appreciate the help! :)

Other similar book and page numbers are also 1892 for instance:

29 Nov 1892 1 223

The record is what it is...

Here are the 1871 to 1922 Tronnes deaths at the www.usgenweb.com page for Norman County:

Trones, Catherina Mar. 26 1898 1 1 74 93
Tronnes, Anders O. Nov. 26 1903 1 2 121 61
Tronnes, Bella Dec. 14 1910 1 2 123 126
Tronnes, Pauline O. Jan. 19 1895 1 1 70 61
Trunnes, Edvart Mar. 19 1922 1 3 138 79 Shelly Twp.

At that same site in the groom's list of Marriages 1882-1906 are these:
Tronnes, Alfred Hanson, Sina Mar 20 1905 5 431
Tronnes, E. A. Benson, Mrs. Karen Apr 05 1902 5 107
Tronnes, Haaken Anderson Halvorson, Hilda Oct 13 1887 2 40

So if Karen is the connection then she'll most likely have a different last name than Benson.

Well E A Tronnes owned this piece of land whose western borders is North Dakota, so finding records on him in North Dakota seems quite conceivable.

U.S., Indexed County Land Ownership Maps, 1860-1918
Owner's Name: E A Tronnes
State: Minnesota
County: Norman
Town: Shelly
Year: 1910
