Gunleik Folkvardson Lier and wife Ingrid Ouversdaughter had 9 children on their farm Lier - near Kviteseid in Telemark. 7 of the children emigrated to USA. We do not know where or when they went. The only one found on ships-list is Ouver born April 13.1864. He went to New York on Sept. 1883 on the ship Rollo from Oslo. The others we are looking for are: Svend born May 23.1859, Ingebjørg born January 16.1861 - she was possibly married to Aasmund Nestebø and Jon Sandbrekklid in the US. Thone(female) born October 9.1862, Tollef born January 2.1868, Eivind born April 9.1870 and Sigrid born January 4. 1872. Their surname should be Gunleiksen or Gunleikson, but Ouver used Gulliksen when he left. Can anyone help us trace them and living relatives?
Thank you from Turid

The spelling is different, but here is the 1865 Norwegian census. http://www.rhd.uit.no/folketellinger/ftliste_e.aspx?ft=1865&knr=0829&kenr=006&bnr=0034&lnr=000

Hope this helps.

I have a lot of information about them here in Norway - but I know nothing about those who went away to America. Spelling is one thing, but I have used churchbooks and use the spelling from their baptism. No the big question; where did they end up in USA ? They did not leave together, so there might have been 7 different ships that brought them to their new country

The SS Rollo was a Wilson Line ship that traveled from Christiania to Christiansand to Hull. There is a log entry stating it sailed Friday evening on September 14, 1883 for Hull.

Are there online lists from Hull? I have also searched for a picture/painting of Rollo, but not found any.

Ingebjørg married Amund Endresen in 1884 - she must have emigrated later - together with her husband?

Recommend you read the many, excellent articles on this site about the "Hull" connection, transits, final voyages, etc.

The log entry Lester was referring to came from the List of Departures on this site.

You obviously did not look on Norway Heritage for a picture of the Rollo. It is right here, there were two Rollos.

You will find a wealth of information, articles, voyage descriptions on Norway Heritage.

Turid,
I can not find any USA records for Ouver. Can you tell us your source, and how he spelled his name.

I found him on Digitalarkivet - Emigrants over Kristiania 1871-1930. He was number 75210. On the list his name was spelled Auer Gulliks.
Thank you for helping me.

I may have found some info for Ingebjørg's husband.

There is a Amund Endersen, age 52, a farmer, arriving New York on the SS United States from Cophenhagen, 28 July, 1910. He is a US citizen.

I need help reading the hand writing, for where he received his citizenship September 4, 1888.

It reads CO(County) CT(Court) A?? Pleas. ?????? Co.

Hi There is a second page to the manifest and it says that his destination is his home in ??? Hamilton County Iowa. His birth place looks like Haugesund Norway.

There is a possibility for Svend leaving from Kristiana April 15, 1881. Svein Gunleifs age 22 Click Here
