Johannes Jacobsen(#1) was born 1774 on Sokn (Sogn) and he lived on Håverstein betweeen 1809 and 1853. He was a teacher and an assistant to the local minister - it could be expected that he might frequently be called upon to perform 'witness' duties. The only other Johannes Jacobsen(#2) on Håverstein that I'm aware of was his grandson, b. 1840.
Above is also mentioned the 1801 birth of Jacob Jacobssen Sokn/Sogn, son of Jacob Andersen Sokn. Jacob Andersen Sokn (Sogn) was a brother-in-law to Johannes Jacobsen(#1).
This thread is too confusing for me to follow any further.

Thank you for the information Hopkins. I was hoping that Johannes Jacobsen might be the "witness" in so many weddings because he was related some how, but the fact that he was an assistant to the local minister makes more sense. My logic was pushing things some what because the odds are that you would not have people in one family having 4 or 5 weddings in one year. ONe thing I did have right was that Johannes Jacobsen might be an older member of the community.
