We shall work it out, I think you had it right.

Ole Tostensen born on Livland 1726 and Tosten Livlands "Søn Kaldet Ole "son named Ole was the same person.
Ødeberg Vestre 1801, Tosten Olsen age 40 was son of Ole Tostensen born 1726.

Sønnev Olsdatter (b.on Ørstein 1771), she was Tosten Olsen´s (b. on Ørstein 1761) now on Vestre Ødeberg, younger sister married to Hellich Evensen on Solom in 1801.

People changed last names depending on which farm they lived on, so it can be very confusing, espasially when its arranged on a PC screen jumping from page to page.

Tomorrow I will try to put in the 1900 censuses, exiting records.

Great,
this next is a sad story.
Nr 2 Jøran Helliksdatter born 1794 married to Levord Helliksen Solom and Fekjan. They got one daughter Ingeborg Levordsdatter.
She married Levord Knutsen Geitnes and their only son Levord born 1853 died 11 years old. Ingeborg became sick and quarrelsome and Levord and Ingeborg split up and he emigrated to USA in 1872 where he baught a farm. In 1884 he owned a house in Edgerton, Wisc. Levor died before 1908, but he had a son which came to Flesberg where he tried to buy Fekjan which he claimed was his inherit.
He failed in doing that and returned to USA wher he died in a accident in a Mill.

Nr 3, Maret Helliksdatter born 1796 married Sjul Kittelsen Linaas, one daughter Sønnev Sjursdatter born August 2. 1829 #36 married to Levor Helliksen, they got four children, Hellik, Kittel, Sjul and Maret. Maret Evensdr age 17 (born 1849) is her illegitimate daughter to Even Gulliksen Sedalen. Maret Helliksdatter age 70 as "hendes Moder and Føderaadskon" her mother and former owner of Dokken, her husband Sjul lived on Linaas

Maret Evensdr. born 1849 emigrated to USA in 1868 as Maret Evensdatter Linaas, right side #13

Sønnev Sjulsdatter died 1876, 6 years earlier, in 1869, her two oldest sons, Hellik born 1854 and Kittil born 1855 emigrated to USA, age 15 and 13,5, likely in company with Jøran Gulliksdatter Vatnebryn age 25. Kittil Ribberud had promised to take care of the children, both are reg. as #69

Widower Levor Helliksen Dokken age 71 sold Dokken and emigrated to USA with his two remaining children, Maret and Sjul in 1881 #8-9-10. Levor was going to Omaha and both children to Laramie.

A funny story taken place on Dokken:
Sønnev and Levor both enjoyed to make jokes and having fun.

Taylor Gudbrand Haugen visited Dokken, only Levor was at home. He hang the Pot in the fireplace to make porridge. Sitting and eating Sønnev arrived and asked "Levor, have you remembered to clean the Pot, I used it tonight?" Levor turned against her licking on the spoon and answered, knew she was joking " No, I thought it was some leftovers from Yesterday, so I just filled up with milk and flour" .
Wonder how Gudbrand Haugen reacted?

Thats great.
Most of this information is from "Flesberg Bygdebok" 5 volumes, author Sigurd Vinger.

Some more info from Solom and Ingeborg Levorsdatter. It was wellknown a lot of silver objects was kept on Solom. It was never found when Ingebjørg died.
Likely the "Solomsilver" are still kept in Ingebjørgs secret Hiding-place on Solem.
Two cupboarde and a bed, decorated with Rosemaling in 1791 from Solom are kept in Drammen museum

Ingeborg Levorsdatter, widow, on Søndre Solem in 1900 as fl "flerfødning", close related to Knud or Jøran. Her income was coming from her capital.
Sønnev Levorsdatter Solem died Jan. 2.1908 on Solem, born 1828 on Fekjan. Cause of death: Epilepsy, #1

nr 4
Sønnev Helliksdatter married to Ole Gulliksen Søndre Førli. Sønnev died Feb. 23. 1848:
Gaardsmand Ole Gulliksen Førlies hustru Sønnev Helliksdatter 50 Førli i Do (the same as abowe) Flesberg.
Farmer Ole Gulliksen Førlies wife Sønnev Helliksdatter ade 50 Førli in Flesberg #10.
Ole Helliksen not found later.

I wonder How would Forlie Farm have gotten it's name?

And I wonder how Christopher would have gotten the money to buy Forlie farm at such a young age?

Thanks, Jodie

It was his father Hellik who helped him with the money. Hellik baught Søndre Førli in 1792 for 623 Riksdaler and sold the farm about 1794 for 1060 Riksdaler and baught Mellom (Central) Bergseid in Rollag parish north of Flesberg and settled down there.
After about 10 years in Rollag Hellik returned to Flesberg and helped his young son Christopher, under age, to raise 1340 Riksdaler (a large sum of money) in 1807 and to run the farm.

Førli: Not sure about the meaning of the name, Li means hillside. Need some time to find out what Før is coming from.

I have still 2 sisters (Helikdrs) to bring up for you.

Most of the time Rygh is a good help, in the case of Førli - Førle
Føerlj nordre, nedre og søndre

Bohuslen og Fyrileiv i Aamotsdal (Telem.). Jfr. det forsvundne Furuleif
i Lundeherred. Første Led efter O. R. enten Præpos. fyrir eller fyri n.

Hi Jodie,
Widow Maret Gudbransdatter born July 25.1834 on Aslefet, right hand #23 (married to Torstein Klemtsen), Sister in law in the1900 census to Kittil Knudsen on Buin was daughter to nr 6) Anne Helliksdatter Solum born 1804 and Gudbrand Olsen Aslefet and Nordre (Northern) Førli.

Maret´s sister Sønnev Gudbrandsdatter born on Aslefet June 14.1829. Parents Gudbrand Olsen Aslefet and Anne Helliksdatter, right hand #29
Sønnev Gudbrandsdatter and Kittil Knudsen settled down or rented Buin, Sønnev died 1893 and Maret Gudbrandsdatter also settled down on Buin (don´t know when), she was "Inderst forsørges af sin Svoger", she was a renter and was supported by her Brother in Law Kittil Knudsen born 1836 "Skogsarbeider" Lumber man, so he didn´t cultivate the farm.
They were all temporary living on farm Valders in Flesberg, all as "inderst" which means they rented Buin but were also related to the owner (no names on the owner of Buin).

The people on Teigen in the 1900 census abowe, their son Torstein born 1894 married Jøran and their son runs Teigen in 1990 (Info. from Flesberg Bygdebok from 1990).

I can send you the names, but not in this forum, because of the protection of privat information of living people.

Some more information about nr 6) Anne Helliksdatter Solem born 1804.

Christopher Førli wrote from USA in the 1882 letter that he often remembered his dear aunt Anne (Heliksdatter) Teigen .
She must have been quite a woman. She runs the farm from 1840-1860 when her husband Gudbrand Olsen Aslefet died.
In the wintertime she was convening coal with horse and sleigh, likely or perhaps it was charcoal used in the smelting stoves to the Silver mine company in Kongsberg town, a distanse of about 11 Miles one way and she always had "Bundingen" The knitting with her, so she didn´t waste the time.
Her storage of food "Stabbur" also burned down but she rebuilds it.

nr 7.
Ingebjørg Helliksdatter Solem born 1810 died Dec. 22.1820 and was buried Dec. 28, right hand #7

An old photo of Daaset before it became a museum

There is another person asking the RootsWeb Norway-List about this SAME family. This poster is calling themselves Dave Johnson.
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/NORWAY/2008-05/1210132617

Isn't it very interesting that TWO of your recent families that you've asked for assistance with are also among the current queries posted to another forum??
