Nikolai Andersen (36) & Olava Larsdr (31)
Marriage: 11 NOV 1848, Fosnes, Nord Trøndelag
His father: Anders Jørgensen
Her father: Lars Olsen
Source information: Nord-Trøndelag county, Fosnes, Parish register (official) nr. 773A05 (1831-1856), Marriage records 1848, page 317

Olava Larsdr is born in Alta, Finnmark, which is far way up in Reindeer country!

Her daughter Oline Justine Julie Nikolaisdtr was born 1860 on a farm called "Reitan" in "Klingen sogn".
"Klingen sogn" must be what today is called Klinga, an area in Namsos municipality in Nord-Trøndelag fylke.
Klingen sogn has also been called Sævik sogn, I believe.

Nicolai Andersen
Christening: 25 SEP 1814, Fosnes, Nord Trøndelag
Parents: Anders Jørgensen & Marta Olsdr
Source information: Nord-Trøndelag county, Fosnes, Parish register (official) nr. 773A02 (1784-1816), Birth and baptism records 1813-1815, page 178.

If there is a Saami connection, I believe it must come through Olava Larsdr, which is born ab 1817-1819 in Alta, Finnmark.

A possibility for Olava Larsdr's parents:
Lars Olsen_pesk (43) & Karen Nielsdtr (23) on Bekkerfiord farm in Alta, Finnmark, census-1801.

Lars Olsen_pesk is a tenant farmer without land, and gets his living from reindeerbreeding and fishing. He is Finnish.
The Finnish word peski comes from Saami Language word beaska, in norwegian pesk. It means "fur from reindeer"
Looks like a Lapp-family to me...

He would be close to his 60s though; when Olava was born. But his wife is quite young...

Jan Peter

ps:
Other meanings of the word "pesk":
"Etymology researches have found that word pieska means the same as old Lappland word pieske, which means a narrow isthmus which connects a wider cap into the coast."
"Pieskä (sometimes Pieski) is in Sami-language a dry (sand) place between wetty swumps."

That is most likely Ole Mikael's father and paternal gfather (Ole Olsen, 63).
Ole Mikal (7) is a farmhand on Deraasbrænden in 1865.

Oline Justine Julie Nikolaisdtr isa born at "Reitan in Klingen parish"
The farm is most likely Reiten in Vemundvik og Sævik sogn, Nord Trøndelag.
Could this be her father Nikolai Andersen Reiten in census-1865?

Your post of 14/06/2008, to this thread, stated that it was a 'possibility' that the record was the right one. Based on patrynomics/most likely it is the correct one. My given name, I am sure is derived from #662 in the listing. I was one of the last granddaughters of many, of the person who is being traced in this thread.

This research was undertaken by a distant relative of mine. I did not have time to go thru all of it, until now. It was very interesting to see from where my name was derived. I would have much preferred to have been given the 'originals' from both of my lines.

Thank you much, the record confirms other things as well!
