Jacob Krossøy was named after farm Krossøy/Korsøen in Lindås /Austerheim municipality north-west of Bergen town in Hordaland county.
Kross/Kors means Cross and øy/øen means island.

He was a school teacer in Kaland school in Austrheim, he married Ragnhild Synnevåg in 1924, his father Johannes H. Krossøy is left of him. The woman left of Johannes Krossøy is unknown (his wife?)

School teacher Jacob Krossøy and his son Oddmund born 1925 on Kaland in 1926.

This seems to be him, Jacob Konrad Johannesen born 1885 in the 1900 census for Lindås on Korsøen/Krossøy and his parents Johannes H. Korsøen/Krossøy and Olina Monsdatter. Have you heard of a sister Matilla Karoline born 1888? Andreas Melanton was a foster son born 1887.

Hi Kåre
I sent the picture of my Great Uncle's wedding. and this was my Aunt's repley

I think the women in the back row on the left. The woman next to her loks like Tanta Tilla, I amassuming that the women on the right side of the picture is the brides family.but the lady behind the bride looks somewhat like Tanta Karen, when I send the pitures you will see the resembants.

My aunt want to Norway She said around 1962. She meet our Great Uncle. She said he was real old then and though he had passed by now . She didn't get to meet his son Oddmund ,and wasn't sure if he was alive when she went. She meet a lot of Great Aunts.
She said that she thinks the Krossøy family owned the farm, but she wasn't sure.
It was funny to see Jacob's son Oddmund he looks just like my oldest brother as a child.
Thank you again Vivian

Odmund Johannes was born June 26. 1925, the family lived on Kaland.
Godparents: farmer Hans J. Krossøy, farmer Hans M.Synnevåg, farmer Konrad J. Kaland, farmers wife Lovisa L. Krossøy and farmers wife Kari M. Synnevåg, #17

From the last column: The parents married in Nykirken (the new church) in 1924, born in Austrheim, no children before.

Look on christening nr 13, Håkon Magnus Sæbø, the father was Konrad J. Kaland, Odmund´s godfater and teacher Jacob Krossøy was his godfather.

Great Vivian,
This Austrheim album looks more like a small family album.
Perhaps there are more pictures from your family in it.

Click on "Flyfoto", photos taken from a aeroplane, on top in your great aunts picture and watch in alphabetlcal order photos of both Krossøy/Krossøyna, Kaland and Synnevåg.

Sorry if I misled you,
when you click on Flyfoto, the alphabetical headline "Se også:" will guide you to choose either Kaland, Krossøy or the Synnevåg area.

Sorry, but I don´t know who own todays Krossøy.
There are 23 persons with lastname Krossøy living in Austrheim today.
Austrheim historian assosiaton named "Austrheim kyst- og sogelag" , they have no e-mail adresss, but if you send them an inquiry and ask, the adress is:
Austrheim kyst- og sogelag, Postboks 47, 5941 Austrheim, Norway.

Since I know NOTHING about this part of the family, could someone help me out here? How does Martha, wife of Emil Bernhardis Woldseth, fit into this picture? Is she the sister of Jakob Krossøy? Is the Matilla (Mathilde?) Karoline another sister, or is she an aunt by marriage? I do know that Martha had a sister named Karen because she spent some time in the USA and died in the USA.

Takk.
