Hi,

Yes thanks for the quote of your earlier post about Liv 1859. Some issues with dates there I see, the oldest of her children born before the wife of the first husband died--interesting to see how that worked out. William did go by Quanbeck also and settled in the McVille, North Dakota area. A number of William's children's obits are found at www.newslibrary.com.

I wasn't keen to follow back into the previous generations so I didn't keep thorough notes but that is the subject of the monograph mentioned earlier. I did note that the preceding generations on Svennung's father's side go:
Halvor Nilson s/o Nils Olavson s/o Olav Nilson s/o Nils Olavson

Wonder what the original querist is looking for...

Jacob Svennungsen Kvanbek was "klokker" sexton in Kongsberg from 1892 to 1914 when he died.
His recidence "Klokkergården" is a protected wellkept house.

A road Kvannbekks vei is named after him.

All I can say is WOW! I haven't posted anything since the first post and look at all the info found! The information found on Sophie's parents grandparents etc. is exactly as I have so that is correct. As it looks the Carl Quanbeck (husband of Sophie Anderson) was a brother to William and that is what I was wondering. You see my great aunt married Clarence Quanbeck (William's son) and Edna's father was a first cousin to Sophie married to Carl Quanbeck. So Clarence and Edna weren't actually related at all and I knew that. But I just wanted to figure out how Carl and Clarence tied together and it seems that Carl was Clarence's uncle. I will have to sift through all this information now that I have it! Thank you for everyone who put so much time into this thread! Anything else anyone finds would be appreciated! I will just add that the McVille, ND is not an unknown place to me. I've been there several times and it is a joy to go there whenever I can! Thanks again for everyones help!

The christian ceremonies in Åmotsdal before 1792 was taken place in Åmotsdal stave church build about 1200, demolished 1792 when Åmotsdal new church was build.

From the old church an engraved runic charachters in the church bell kept in the Nationalmuseum in Kopenhagen?? spelled in a modern translation of the runes:
+ unnulfer perd(e) kloko de(s)sa :
+ Unnulf gjorde denne klokke .
+ Unnulf made this bell :

I don't know if this will spark any ideas to find anything else, but my great aunt told me today that she thought Carl was involved in the mofia and he disappeared and the family never knew what happened to him. So Sophie had to raise their children alone. As far as I know she lived in the Minneapolis area for the remainder of her life. Their son Warren became a pastor so I know the most information on him.

Is it likely that Sophie's obituary would have been in the Star Tribune as that was the main paper in the Minneapolis area when she died in 1966. I'm not sure what library would have that paper so that I could request a copy of the obit. Any suggestions where to find this out?

Start your research to find local libraries and/or newpaper with the Minnesota genealogy webpage on RootsWeb -
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mngenweb/

Or with the page specific for Hennepin County, Minnesota -
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mnhennep/

Hi,

State level historical societies are the usual keepers of past issues of newspapers and newspaper microfilm for their particular state. Here is the Minnesota historical website address:

www.mnhs.org

Your local public library will help you with their participation in inter-library loan. Newspaper microfilm can be ordered from the Minnesota Historical Society and be sent to your library for your use. There are fees associated with these rentals and copy costs, of course.

Good Luck
