Johannes August baptismal record is #31. He was born April 16 and baptized June 9 1839.
Parents were Peder Johannesen and Maria Dorthea Andersdatter at Malterud.

Hello,

Thanks for the message. I was able to locate his baptismal record, confirmation record, 1865 census, and migration out of Gjovik (he moved there after the 1865 census and immigrated in 1867). I was very curious to know if Military records exist, and basically find out what the military was all about in Norway at that time (age one entered the military, # of years active)

The military records for Oppland is probably stored in the arcives in Hamar

The LDS Family History Library lists a number of resources about military records of Norway. Check their online library catalog.
