When I use the ancestry.com section titled UK Incoming Passenger Lists 1878-1960 and enter Edith Brereton in the search box I get a page showing the following

Name: Edith Brereton
Birth Date: abt 1891
Age: 39
Port of Departure: Montră©AL, Quă©Bec, Canada
Arrival Date: 31 Oct 1930
Port of Arrival: Liverpool, England
Ship Name: Duchess of Atholl
Search Ship Database: View the 'Duchess of Atholl' in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Shipping Line: Canadian Pacific Steamship Line
Official Number: 160505

It sure looks like a passenger listing for a passenger travelling from Montreal Canada to Liverpool England. When I click on the "view original image" button I get the manifest of the ship. The first page states,

Incoming Passengers
Returns of Passengers brought to the United Kingdom in ships arriving from places out of Europe and not within the Mediterranean Sea.

I cannot reporduce the orginal manifest here but if you would like to see it ancestry.com does allow you to share the image.

When I use the ancestry.com section titled UK Incoming Passenger Lists 1878-1960 and use the "refine your search" command to give me a list of passengers from Montreal Quebec to Liverpool England in 1936 on the Andania, I get a list of 1,693 people. It appears that the Andania arrived in Liverpool on the following dates:
10 Jul 1936
7 Aug 1936
6 Sep 1936
4 Oct 1936
31 Oct 1936
28 Nov 1936

I did not look at all 1,693 passenger names but I did look at all the last names beginning with B in case a simple misspelling could account for not finding Edith Brereton, but none of the names beginning with B resembled the Brereton name or fit the 1888/1889 birth date for Edith

Thanks for all your help and tips. It seems that all the avenues have been exhausted for now. There doesn't seem to anything even close or in another year.

Ships Passenger Lists to United Kingdom

All ships carrying passengers in or out of any British port were required by law to deposit an official passenger list with the relevant port authorities The records for all these ship passengers travelling between 1890 and 1960 survives within the collection of original British Board of Trade passenger lists. The only place they can be seen is at the Public Record Office in Kew, England.

There are British inbound lists, but they are not indexed, nor microfilmed. The original inbound lists reside at Kew. These lists are not filmed, not indexed and they are not available on-line.
