Hi all,

Called in a favor from a friend and found on her death cert. that Ragnhild Glatz was born 7 April 1866 and her parents were listed as Nels Nelson and Isabel Anderson.

The 4 Klevstad births recorded in the Minnesota Historical Society birth index have mother's maiden name listed as Hanson, Rolloen, and Kolon.

So it seems another two less likely Ragnhilds...

Hilsen,
Jackie M.

Thank you all for your hard work in trying to find Ragnhild Einang. I'll have to read through all you have found for me before I go on with my search for her.

As this Ragnhild is part of my familytree(her mother was my great great grandmother), I have found out that she took name Hilda, and she married a Sigvard Haugland.
Here is a link for the 1925 census
They had at least one daughter named Martha Caroline, known as Lulu. She married Chris Paulson, and there might be living relatives.

Here is Hilda again in the 1900 US Census. The birth month and year do match that provided by Anne and the immigration year does match that found for Ragnhild Einang in my first posting on page 1. The older Martha is listed as a sister and was born in Norway.

It is greate to get this information.
Her biological fathers name was Haldor, but her mother married my great great grandfather when Ragnhild (Hilda) was about three years old. She might have given his name as fathers name: Iver Andersen. That would fit when we take in regard how hard it is to transcript old handwriting when we dont expect what it says.

Actually in the 1925 Iowa census shown above, her father is listed as Juer Hendrick. Do you know where that name would come from.

Hi All,

Here is the original querist's request. There were two Ragnhilds, both daughters of the samename of the same woman but fathered by different men, the first born without benefit of marriage and the second during a marriage. So who has been found in Iowa, Ragnhild #1 or Ragnhild #2?

Originally posted by Anne Brit Benum

The above-mentioned is the illegitimate daughter of my grandmother's aunt Barbro Eriksdaughter. This Ragnhild came as a surprise - we have looked for Ragnhild Iversdaughter Einang, who was Barbro's legitimate daughter.

What I have found out about the illegitimate daughter, is that she was born in Røn, Vestre Slidre, Oppland, on January 12, 1865. Her father is mentioned as a Halvor Knutsen. Ragnhild was baptized in Slidre January 29, 1865, and her confirmation took place in the same county on May 23, 1880. She left Norway via Oslo/Kristiania on the Angelo on April 18, 1888, 23 years old. The ship was set for New York.

I do not know what happened to Ragnhild Halvorsdaughter Einang. Did she arrive in New York? Is it possible to trace her after that?
Yours sincerely,
Anne Benum

Ragnhild from 1865 (father Halvor Knudsen) is the one in Iowa.
Her mother married Iver Andersen in 1868 when this Ragnhild was 3 years old.
The younger Ragnhild, b 1872 (father Iver Andersen) lived most of her time in Slidre, Valdres, Norway, and is buried with her sister Turid at the Slidre churchyard.
