Thank you Jackie,

Sanbakken must have been one of the few spellings that I did not try. Anyway if her maiden name was Liligren and she was born 12/31/1963, that would rule her out as the Ragnhild we are looking for. Good effort tho.

Hi Lynda,

Yes, the search is like being a kitty scratching at the post, good exercise.

It would be nicer if we were able to find the right Ragnhild, though.

Keep on, keeping on...

Hi,

Remember Joann said that Henry, the son of Ragnhild Halvorson couldn't be the son of William Holcomb. New York is such a big place, so many people but look at this in the Brooklyn baptism database at digitalarkivert:

Barn Henrik m 2205
2939 Far Vaktme:
ster Henrik Pay 98 Tremont Street, Brooklyn
2940 Mor Ragnhild Mathilde Halvorsen 98 Tremont Street, Brooklyn

I wonder if the target Ragnhild had a middle name?

Maybe Henry ended up in the WWI draft reg database??

Hilsen,
Jackie M.

Yes, this is probably him here, but the card did not contain anything new, It states he was born in Brooklyn even tho he was living in Queens at the time he filled out the draft card. He listed himself as married. Nothing much beyond that.

Henry Holcomb
City: Queens
County: Queens
State: New York
Birthplace: New York;United States of America
Birth Date: 22 May 1891
Race: Caucasian (White)

We still have the issue of her birth year being way off at 1872

Hi,

Yeah, she is still not the best, but one by one we are eliminating the rest...

Is she findable now in the 1900 census, maybe under the Pay last name?

With both the names of Barbro and Iverson, how does this connect with the Kari Nilsdaughter post? How do Barbo Jonsdatter and Barboe Ericksdatter coonect?

I couldn't find the record for Regnhild leaving Oslo in 1888. I tried using the ships name or the month of April and several name combos. It might be helpful to see that record.

Hi,

Hi,

Regards the question of Ragnhild's leaving, she is in the Kristiania database at digitalarkivet:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=emikra1

1888 403 2 1 18.04.1888 20.04.1888 Ragnhild H. Einang P. k 23 v. Slidre New York Blichfeldt Angelo Ppd.

The only known connection is that the Kari Nilsdatter search and the Ragnhild Halvorsdatter search have the same querist...

Hi again.
Jackie is right: the querist is the same, but the persons I have asked questions about, are not the same. And Jackie is right in her latest entry - she has found the correct Ragnhild E. Einang in the emigrant-protocols.
Hilsen Anne

Hi,

This rootsweb database has Hans Pederson and Ragnhild Nilsdatter and one child named Hannah born Redwood County (curiously listed as California. It was updated in July 2009. Not a lot of detail on these folks:

Stockstad, A.A. Milnor, N.Dak. (1868)
Stakestad, Mrs. A.A. Milnor, N.Dak.

Dovre
Kvam, Matthias Clifford, N.Dak. (1880)

Hi,

This is probably Ragnhild Sandbakken's baptismal #45:

Source information: Oppland county, Vågå in Vågå, Parish register (official) nr. 6 /1 (1856-1872), Birth and baptism records 1864, page 46.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8918&idx_id=8918&uid=ny&idx_side=-49

And possibly Ragnhild Stockstad's #51 (not a great match!):

Source information: Oppland county, Vågå in Vågå, Parish register (official) nr. 6 /1 (1856-1872), Birth and baptism records 1867, page 63.

Hi,

Looking for the Ragnhild in New York at digitalarkivet. Of the schedules now transcribed of the 1875 Norwegian census, I found that there were 37 girls named Ragnhild who were born in 1872, none had a patronymic name beginning in Halv, nor did the fathers, of those present, of any girl listed without a patronymic have Halvor (of any variant spelling)as their name nor as their patronymic. Also none of the Ragnhild had Mathilde as a middle name.

Possible effects are a variation in the spelling of Ragnhild, variation of the birth year, that not all the schedules are currently available, and that the New York Ragnhild may have already immigrated (albeit with her parents).

Hilsen,
Jackie M.

Hi,

Here is another 1865 Ragnhild found in the Minnesota online death index:

KLEVSTAD, RAGNHILD
Date of Birth: <1865>
Place of Birth: NORWAY
Mother Maiden Name: na
certid# 1906-45A-2455
Date of Death: 26 Oct 1906
County of Death: CLEARWATER

Could someone look for her in the 1900 census? Thanks...
