| I am trying to find information on a Karolina Larsen Kousmo she was born in the year of 1890 in Feb on a farm in Bergan.I know she worked to earn her money to come to the U.S She had a son William Williamsen who went to Norway to live with family there. He became a owner of the family farm. This I know because some family came from Norway when they wanted to sell part of the farm and my uncle had to sign papers for them to sell.I know she married Martin Williamsen in 1907 in Brooklyn Then later married Peder Jensen Sandvik in 1925 in Broolkyn. She had two son's Martin and William with her first husband and two son's Arthur and Edward and a daughter Lillian with her second husband. Thank you Vivian |

| I've just talked to a family member who said that Karolina was born in a town called Koussno she said it is a small town she was born Feb 21 1890, She told me she also had a brother. Thank you |

One candidate for you Karoline is born Febr 23 1889 in Konsmo, Vest-Agder, see #2.
She left for USA in 1906.

| thank you so much yes this is my Grandmother. If you know of any other family member I would love the help. When my grandmother came to the U.S. she never talked about Norway much she said she was in America now so we never know anything about our family over there. |

In 1900 the family was living at the farm Koveland.
Karoline is recorded as born in 1888 and her parents were Lars Olsen and Aase Tomine Toresdatter. She had in 1900 a sister, Anna Tomine, and a brother Daniel.

Karolines mother Aase Tomine was born Sept 15 and baptized Sept 26 in 1847, see #9, Karolines grandparents then were Thore Olsen and Aase Rebekka Helligsdatter at the Vigmostad farm in Nord-Audnedal.
Karolines parents were married Nov 7 1873, see #12, the mother was then a widow, the father bachelor.
Karolines father was born Oct 16 and baptized Nov 14 1847, see #26 his parents were Ole Danielsen and Ingeborg Knudsdatter at the Hunstad farm in Laudal.

Aase Rebecha Hellingsdatter and her first husband Peder Torgiesen in 1801.
In 1865 she was most likely dead and Thore Olsen and his second wife is at the Hægebostad farm. |

| Lars Olsen Hunsdal was baptised 1847 in Laudal church. Hunsdals farms are at the border between Konsmo and Laudal parishes. In 1865 census they belong to Konsmo parish Hunsdal |

| I don't understand how Karolina 's last name is different then her parents. In the U.S. the wife takes the husbands name when married and there children take the father's name. The mother's name is lost and does not carry on to the children. I do understand that in Norway if you live on a farm you take on the farms name as your last name .Like My grandfather's name coming to the U.S. from Norway was Peder Jensen Sandvik. I was told that Sandvik is the farms name, and it was dropped when he entered the U.S. So my father and my name before I married was Jensen. I wonder how Karolina got the last name as Larsen? I do see her father's first name is Lars and I guess that plays a part in her last name? can you help me understand how the names go ? Yes it is Thank you for asking and remembering me. How are you? This time I am looking up my Father's side of my family of my family. It was hard starting his side because everyone in the family told me something different. I am on a good start for my grandmother but I think my Grandfather will be so hard because I only know his name which is Peder Jensen and his papers state also Sandvik I am not sure if there are more then one Sandvik farm in Norway. Know one knows of the town he is from but I am thinking he was born on the Sandvik farm. I know he want home or a visit in 1926 he took my aunt she was 4 months old at the time. Because I have hi Certificate of Natcurlization papers but they don't state where he was going in Norway. If you can help me I would love it. I am fine thank you, so is my family, thank you.
We have had some cold weeks in Norway, minus 20-40 Celsisus, about minus 5- 43 F.
You´ve got good help with Karoline Konsmo.
Sandvik is most likely a farm name, could also be a place, means Sand cove.
There were more than 1500 persons living on Sandvik farms in 1900.
Could take a look for Peder Jensen Sandvik.
