Could Ingeborg Olava Olsen, emigrating in 1913 be your Ingeborg?
If so you find her in the 1900 census - and her baptismal record is #24.
Since you said your family in 1920 was
Peter Ivar Larsen 30
Irigaboret Larsen 31
Ruth Larsen 2 0/12
Elsie Larsen 8/12
and Peter was born 1889 it is reasonable that Ingeborg was born late in 1887.

Rebecca - You can search and see the passenger manifests from Ellis Island online all by yourself. The following website asks that you register - but it is free.
http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.html

Check your local public library and/or nearest genealogical society for how to access US census records.

New York state and city specific records and resources might also be best learned about by starting with a locality specific investigation at a website such as -
http://www.cyndislist.com/

And don't overlook the excellent basics about learning Norwegian ancestry search that you will have noticed linked from this website under LINKS above (upper right hand portion of this page).

There must be a mix up though with the 1920 census for my great grandmother's name because I called a relative and I'm sure it's Ingeborg, I'm almost certain of the spelling

Do not be put off by the various spellings of your ancestors names, it is quite common and many times even more strange the the ones you see in the above posts.

I am new to this forum as of today so don't know if I am sending a reply to someone or posting my question. In any case, my name is Charlotte Knutsen and all my descendents are are from Norway with the exception of my one grandmother's mother being from Muxam(sp)Finland from a Swedish colony. Anders Svor was one of my distant relatives. There is a museum in Stryn, Norway named after him. He was a famous wood carver. My Grandpa's given name was Leif Aamund Kvinge, when he came through Ellis Island in around 1903 his last name was changed to "Knutsen". My Grandma's maiden name was Ingaborg Anna Anderson, her parents were Ole and Olina Anderson. My relatives from Norway are from the Oslo, Bergen and Stryn areas. Another name way back in my family tree was Peder Satre. I understand there are different "farms" that people were named after, unfortunately i don't have this info. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I am interested in finding my current relatives over in Norway as there are many.
