I'm looking for any information on Ingebret Pederson roe 1822-1872 and karen roe 1822-1913. They lived in Portage County Wisconsin in the town of New Hope. I have found all the other ancestrery information from the time they came to wisconsin. I've been looking on ancestry.com and have not found and information on them from norway, marriage, birth, etc. I know they were farmers. I have found them to have 2 sons Peder I roe which is my husbands great grandfather and jonus I roe. I would appreciate any information on this.
I'm looking for Ingrebret Pederson roe 1822-1872 and karen roe 1822-1913. They lived in Portage county wisconsin in the town of new hope in the u.s. I got all the information figured out in the us. I know they were farmers and found the surname roe and came up with 4 search answers but I am not sure if its right. I would appreciate any information on this. I think they would have came here in the late 1840's to early 1850's. Karen roe is listed as coming here around 1853 but I don't know if thats right because my husbands great grandfather in the census says he was born in wisconsin in 1851 so I'm not sure which is right. |

When did they immigrate to the US? (recorded in 1900 and 1910 US censuses) Were those sons born in US or Norway? If in Norway, what birth years for the sons? |

I have all the information from when they came to wisconsin their kids etc down until now. What I can't find is the information on them in norway and what ship etc they took to get here. I don't know where in the country they lived etc. My father-in-law doesn't know any of the information and nobody is alive yet who could possibly know. I've looked under these names but can't find any info. |

I'm not sure the exact year they migrated what I can figure out it is in the late 1840's to early 1850's. On karen's census it says it was 1853 but I don't think thats right because my husbands great grandfather was born in 1851 and the census said he was born in Wisconsin so either the census is wrong or when karen came here is. There was also a relply on roe farms but it was in the 1860 and they were already here in the us by then. |

Hi,
This is from Norwegian Immigrants to the United States1825-1850, Volume Two 1844-1846, page 20 by Gerhard Naeseth, 1997, as passenger on the Salvator in 1844. The Salvator arrived in New York July 6, 1844 from Porsgrunn, Telemark. Engebret Pederson Rød (I. Pedersen, 21) perhaps son of Peder Ingebretsen Røe & Kari Nilsdatter b. in Siljan, Te April 26, 1823. Emigrated from Siljan, Te to the Pine Lake Settlement, Waukesha county, WI. Died March 9, 1872. Married, August 17, 1849 Karen Simonsdatter Sølverud, b. 1822 d. 1913. Children Peter, bp Sept. 20, 1851, Maren Christine bp Dec. 18, 1852 d. Nov 30, 1939, Simon, Jacob, bp May 24, 1856, Carl bp Dec 17, 1857, Jonas bp Jul 15, 1860.
Sources for this are given as: Standard History of Portage County New Hope Lutheran cemetery Pine Lake Lutheran Church records Wrolstad Family History
In addition a probable sister to Engebret is also identified on the Salvator: Ingeborg Pedersdatter ( I. Pedersen, 16, fe.)Rød b. Siljan Telemark Sept 5, 1828 d. Scandinavia, WI Sept 1887, supposed to have married Christian Hansen.
This information was collected as part of a large project and so to confirm that these are your people, you may want to track down the original sources yourself and confirm the data.
Hilsen, Jackie M.

Thanks so much for the information I would have never found this information out I have been looking all over for the information. After I read it it all makes sense. My husbands family only knew of them living in portage county. I could only find two children when looking up census information. I was wondering about farm names somebody listed in earlier posts about roe farms and came up with some information. I was wondering if there were any earlier ones or if possibly one of these could be from family members still in norway in the 1860's. |
