Again thank you all so much for helping me I could have never found this info out without all of you. This is a great website. I'm wondering if theres any place I could put the information I found out on this website for future reference for other people who may be looking for the same ancestors.

Simon Olsen & Christine Abrahamsdr are Ingebret Pederson Roe's parents-in-law.

Hi,

Time is short this evening, so I will direct you to search for the passenger list of the voyage of the Superb 13 May 1849-2 July 1949 from Porsgrunn to New York on this website. You will find Karen Simonsdatter and her future in-laws.

Good Luck,

Jackie M.

How would i find any farms from the ancestry in Norway both Ingebrets and karens ancestors are listed as farmers and do you know any good places to look up maps of norway I would like to print a map out where siljan, telmark is and do you know any websites that have earlier family farm pictures on it from norway I know that's probably a big stretch but thought I would ask. I'm really interested in this because my husband and I are farmers in wisconsin.

Here is Siljan as a start.
Copy "Øvre Rød (Gårdsbruk), Siljan, Telemark" to the line for SØK in this map click on Sted/adresse and choose by clicking on Velg.
Zoom to your liking and you may click on Hybrid to see the houses.
Zooming out you will see where Roe = Rød is in relation to Siljan centre.
Copy "Sølverød (Gårdsbruk), Siljan, Telemark" and follow same instructions.
You may also use the map for routing, copy one farm in "Fra" and the other in "Til" and click on "Beregn rute".

Hi,

Volume 4 of Norwegian Immigrants to the United States A Biographical Directory, 1825-1850 by Gerhard B. Naeseth and Blaine Hedberg, published at Madison, Wisconsin 2004 contains the listing and their research on the people who came on the Superb.

On page 64 is Karen Simonsdatter Solverød's story and on page 61 is Peder Ingebretson Rød, Peder's wife Kari Nielsdatter Hogstad, their daughters Helvig Pedersdatter Rød, Anne Margrethe Pedersdatter Rød and Marie Pedersdatter Rød and Marie's husband Ole Pederson Rød and their two children Engebret Olson Rød and Anne Olsdatter Rød. There is quite a lot of research given on Marie's and Ole's family. These people are relatives and it would be worth it to you to get the copies of the either the book or the pages to compare to your research.

Good Luck
Jackie M.

Janice,
You should do a little study about how to do ancestral research in Norway.
http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~norway/articles.html
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wgnorway/

Also look through the many helpful items that are available under [Links[/u] above on this page. You can also find helpful links at -
http://www.cyndislist.com/norway.htm

Also, the ongoing postings are getting very difficult to read and understand. Some care in punctuation, capitalization and grammar might help. You can also edit your previous postings when you are logged in.

Hi,

If you are speaking about the Superb, the transcription for the 1849 trip is found in the passenger list portion of the norwayheritage website. If you are speaking about the Salvator trip in 1844, that voyage is also covered, the list transcribed and is available on this web page. The search engines for people, ships, lines and years are found on the home page of this site.

In most cases the original lists are handwritten, not rendered in an easy to read nice typescript experienced here and in other transcribed listings online and so are given to interpretation.
