My sister said that Oscar brother Odd was his twin? This is the first I have heard this. Would you think it would have shown up already....

Hi.
Based on the 1935 letter and the tragic that happened to Oscar I perceive Margrete to be a strong and calm lady, she also mentions Odd.

Odd Normann was not a twin.

Perhaps Oscar´s sister Sigrid was born after 1928.
All records exept for weddings after 1928 are closed because of protection of people´s pravacy.

Hi,
unless you prefer cold wintry conditions of the Arctic Circle with the chilly polar winds, the best time to engage on Travel in Lofoten Islands is the summer season, i.e. May - August. July and August is the "hottest", but the mean temperature are still only about 12°C (54ºF)...
In the daytime, it gets up to the 20's on sunny days. People go swimming, so it's not that cold... The Gulf Stream make the area inhabitable, bringing warm water from the Mexican Gulf.
Take a look at these pictures... quite amazing scenery. Lofoten Islands is a very popular Norwegian Tourist destination.

Gimsøy church. Margrete might be buried here. This is also where Wilhelm Pettersen was buried. He died more than 100 years ago, so his grave might be gone.

OH Jan, The pictures bring tears! How beautiful and the church is so beautiful. You know by records that this is where Wilhelm Petterson is buried. You are amazing. As all of you who have helped me. Is there anyway for me to write to someone in the chruch if it is still used...to see if the headstones are still there. I wish I could find someone in the family who would do this for me. Somehow I have to find out how to do this...Thank you Thank you! I am jumping for joy!

The church is nice. The church was built 1876, and have 300 seats. Interesting to see how they have wired the church to the ground. They wind can be quite heavy on the naked island.

You can contact the parish/church directly using this address: post @ lofotkatedralen.no (remove the spaces)

A bird-eye view of Vatnfjord, Lofoten. Chances are high that Margrete Hauan lived inside these borders.

The Haukland Beach, Vestvågøy, Lofoten, Norway. Voted the most beautiful beach in Norway a couple of years ago. I would guess the Hawklands lived to the left of this picture. Not a densely populated area..

On top of the world... looking down at the Haukland beach...
Clean water and quite refreshing... the water holds a temperature of maximum 13-15C (60°F) on a hot summer day... Bring your swimsuit when you go!
