The double aa in Gaard is pronounced with a long Å as oa in boat.
Dorothea Sofia Gaard was born on Gård (Gaard) March. 12. 1911, see last bap #3

The family kept the old spelling Gaard as lastname.

Hi,
it confused me to see Jonas confirmation living on Gaard 1862.
I think the family lived on Gaard around 1860 althoug the migration record say 1865.
- Jonas was confirmed living on Gaard 1862, but already in 1861 Sjur´ Larsens wife "Gaardmandskone" Farmers wife Ingeborg died on Gaard Mai 18. see #11

Ingeborg Aadsdtr. was from Østre Goe/Goa, probably Hetland in Randaberg parish, when she married Sjur in 1842.
- Why she is recorded in the 1865 migration to Gaard I don´t know.
Perhaps the family left Gaard and returned to Rennesøy after Jonas confirmation because of the death of Ingebjørg and returned back to Gaard 1865?

I have not been able to find migration records in neither Talgje and Rennesøy around 1860.

Thank you, Kåre, for the information on Jonas' confirmation and the confusion of where the family was living at that time. I think your thoughts could be correct. I will share them with our research group. I still would like info, if possible, on the departure of Johan and Sivert Gaard to America. Again, thank you to everyone for your help

- Talgje 1875
Bap. for Ane Serene Nov. 22, Johan Sjursen Gaard was one of the godparents.

Sjur Larsen, "g" gift/married, "Folgemand" died on Gaard of stroke Mai. 9. 1900, #2.

Folgemand/Kaarmand, retired farmer living on his own farm secured free support by the new owner, his son-in-law Anders Andersen.

Hi, I don´t think the emigration record for Jonas Sjursen Gaard has been shown here before.

Talgje April 24. 1869.
A group of ten persons from age 4- 68 em. "Til Nord Amerika", see right page, 21 years old Jonas is #8

Dep. port was Stavanger, registration papers for ship Heros here

Often creates genealogy new questions.
Maybe just a coincidence, but next to Jonas on Heros nr 143 is Elias Amundsen 25 from Fjeldberg.
Jonas father was from Fjeldberg.
Jonas is passenger #142

More difficult to find Johan and Sivert.

Sjur Larsen Dørems father was Lars Sjursen Dørem.
He married widow Sønneve Nilsdatter ab.1809.
She was married to Nils Olsen, see Dørem 1801, two son´s, Nils 1803 and Ole 1806

Lars Sjursen was from Kinsarvik, he got 7 children with Sønneve/Syneva, he died on Dørem Nov. 5. 1829.

Nils Nilsen 1803 inherit Dørem/Dørheim, his daughter Synneva married to Gunder Olsen takes over Dørheim.
Syneva (Nilsdatter) 87, widow and her son Nils Nilsen 63 widower on Dørheim 1865

This informantion comes from here

Perhaps Eilas Amundsen on Heros with Jonas 1869 was his cousin.
Eilas Omundsen b. Dec. 1. 1844 on Fatland in Fjeldberg to Omund Andersen and Margrete Larsdatter.
Margrete was Sjurs sister b. 1810.

Rakel/Rachel Sjursdatter who married Tollac Knudsen was born on Goa Østre in Randaberg Jan. 9. 1843, bap. Rachel Severine, see right page #2

Goa Østre was the same farm Ingeborg Aadsdatter lived on when she married Sjur Larsen

Hi, fun to work with the Gaard people.

It´s interesting to follow Jonas Sjursen´s cousin Elias Omundsen Fatland´s route to America.
April 9. 1869 leaving Fatland in Fjeldberg, dest. farm Gaard on Findø (Finnøy).
The rest of the journey from April 24 is known.
Right page #4

Probably more "cousins" from the Dørheim family emigrated to North America.

Sivert and Johan´s emigration is difficult to find.
Sivert was Severt Gard in USA, John had a son Alfred Severt Gaard, but no precise date of emi- immigration.

Hoping for a feedback from the group when you have sorted the information or if you do have any questions.
