Hi guys well after you gave me the boys names and the stories that have been floating around the family I have spent the whole day reasearching and I HAVE FOUND THEM ALL YA all the boys are buried in Rookwood Cemetry in Sydney I can't believe it I have been looking at them all this time I just needed a name I found out that Ole Theodore Hansen Married in Melbourne to Mary L Nicolls in 1879 they had Eliza Catrina Hansen 1880 Melbourne and then nothing so I looked on the NSW BDM (online) and there they where they had another 8 children I have their dates of birth and the marriages of the children one in particular hit me the name of the lady that Claude Married was Rosa Woolcott I was shocked because that is the middle name of the last baby that Carl and Isabella had Bethia Francis Woolcott Hansen, Isabella died giving birth to her and the story is that she was bought up by a relative and I thought it was Fanny that did that, Fanny is Isabella sister, I now know it was Ole Theodor's son WOW this story has convinced me I have the right man after that I went to find Ole's death I looked in the Rookwood Cem. online and there he was D 2.12.1923 and his wife Mary Louisa Hansen D 19.12.1936 and in the same grave was Peter Bernard Hansen D 12.3.1930 at the home of Peace Marrickville its the same place that Karl Hansen D 4.6.1927 Home of Peace Marickville
I have more to ad I have to go wil put all I have found on line soon Catcha Later Robyn

Regarding your question about the brothers, Ancestry.com has records of a Peter Hansen working as a sailor on ships traveling from various ports to Sidney. Here is one of about 10 records for the same man.

New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922
Name: Peter Hansen
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1857
Age: 26
Port of Departure: Levuka, Fiji
Port of Arrival: Sydney, New South Wales
Voyage Arrival Date: 25 May 1883
Vessel Name: Cintra
Origin Location: Norwegian

YES this is her Dianne Bates I was talking to her years ago when I was just starting to look and the computer died do you know what has happened to her I have enough to make a comtact with all this and what I have on the Hansen.
She was looking for Edward Hansen but which State of Australia I can't remember? she had a Hans & Martha Olsen I think.
Thanks heaps Robyn
Is this the topic you were looking for?
I have found something today to confirm Ole Hansen was a Smith too great job finding that what type of Smith?.

One Dianne Bates is looking for an Edward Hanson, born about 1848 in Moss, County Ostfold, Norway.
Not sure where she got the city Moss from, but it looks like this could be Ole Theodor, born 1845?

Ole Theodor Hansen emigrates from Oslo on April 29th, 1870.
But... and there are maybe too many but's here:
He is not a sailor, but a smith.
He is 22, but should have been 25 in 1870
His residence is Nĉs, Romerike... Not Oslo (Kristiania)
He is going to Chicago, America. (He could have continued to Australia later though, when he found out that his brothers went to Australia)

lyndal40: This Peter Hansen is a good clue!

I have not seen any sign of Carl's father Hans Thoresen being a mariner.

1844: Wedding record. I think Hans Thoresen is listed as a soldier of some kind...
1850: Christening record for Carl Frederik; Father Hans Thoresen is listed as "National soldier"
1865: Census. Hans Thoresen is listed as lumper (wharf worker)
1875: Census. Hans Thoresen is listed as "worker" (labourer)

Regarding Ole Theodor Hansen's emigration, it just say "smed" ("smith"). I guess that's mean he was a blacksmith.

In the records I have looked at for Peter Hansen he is listed as AB, which I think is short for able seaman ie one with some years of experience.

New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922
Name: Peter Hansen
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1856
Age: 23
Port of Departure: Melbourne
Port of Arrival: Sydney, New South Wales
Voyage Arrival Date: 2 Jun 1879
Vessel Name: Kembla
Origin Location: Norwegian
