It is the Methodist Episcopal Church. I believe it was in Rutherford. I went through all their records at the time. I was only able to get for the son and daughter but nothing on him. |

Thanks. Just to clarify, I was asking for a specific church, not a denomination. A lot of details to keep track of - it's hard I know.

Ralph is already a widower and there are 3 children still in the house. Ralph is age 53 and born in Scotland.
From searching www.familysearch.org Norway Baptisms, Norway Marriages these are the known children:
1. Georg Alexander Wilson b. 7 Jan 1833 #5: Source information: Aust-Agder county, Vestre Moland in Vestre Moland, Parish register (official) nr. James is probably still alive in April 1870 as he and R. Wilson are surety / bondsmen for sister/ daughter Margarethe's marriage.

There are 2 Margrethe / Magda Schlytter in Oslo in 1900 & 1910 but the links are for the one b. in Christiansand.
5. John Wilson (or Karl Johan Wilson?) b. 22 Dec 1844 Christiansand. John Wilson b. Christiansand confirmation #19: Kildeinformasjon: Vest-Agder fylke, Kristiansand, Ministerialbok nr. John married 20 Aug 1876 in Eiker, Buskerud to Ingeborg Knutsdtr. She was born in Kongsberg 29 Dec 1856. From memory, John is still alive in 1900 but died before the 1910 census.
Jon Wilson's death #7: Kildeinformasjon: Buskerud fylke, Nedre Eiker, Klokkerbok nr. 3 (1896-1905), Døde og begravede 1904, side 565-566. 6. Ole Tolbert Wilsonb. 15 Oct 1850 Kristiansand
Ingeborg Marie Wilson's death is found in the Norway Burials database at www.familysearch.org. She d. 30 Nov 1865, was buried 7 Dec 1865 in Kristiansand, Vest Agder. Her age was given as 51 with birthyear estimated at 1814, husband in Rolf Wilson.
I haven't been able to find the fate of Clemmet Johannes Wilson. His birth year matches 1834 with official baptism in June 1835 but exact birthdate is not a match. No sign of an Olson. I haven't found his confirmation or a death record. The family does have connections to both Kristiansand & Christiania, but Clemmet was not born in either place.

My research has taken me close to this tree, and ANY input at all would be greatly appreciated (not to mentioned connecting with any distant and remote relatives.
My great grandfather is John Martin Wilson, born in September, 1956. His 1919 Maine death record lists his father’s name as John Wilson, wife’s name unknown, and occupation of farmer. That record also lists his father's borthplace as Scotland, and mother's as Norway. John Martin Wilson emigrated to the US in 1878. I’ve found a Johan Martin Wilson, since of Carl and Maren, although the age (4 in 1865) doesn’t match his own stated birthyear of 1856. Bear in mind that we are dealing with people whose own history can be hampered by either providing false information for whatever reason, or just wrong information (my grandfather, one of John Martin Wilson’s 6 kids, was very incorrect on some dates and details (bless his heart for his effort).
If any information seems related in some way, or even pointers in the right direction sine your research seems VERY detailed and thorough. I’d love to hear your thoughts!!

Hi David,
Since the Carl Wilson topic is quite lengthy you might want to start your own on John.
There is a large number of John Wilson born in Norway in America in 1880 census. This one is closest in age to yours:

A good idea. There are 247 postings in this topic so it´s easy to get lost.

NEW DEVELOPMENT! I'm BacK! I am convinced (almost) that this guy is mine: Name: Carl Johan Olsen Gender: Male Baptism/Christening Date: 23 Sep 1834 Baptism/Christening Place: KRISTIANSUND, MORE OG ROMSDAL, NORWAY Birth Date: 19 Jun 1834 Father's Name: Ole Hammer Mother's Name: Karen Kirstine Abrahamsdr Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C42203-1 System Origin: Norway-ODM Source Film Number: 124839
His birthdate is the same as mine and the location is the same. Any way to find a connection? |
