I know the birth date of Ingri Nilsdotte(Skroviken) which was 1787, in Vestre Slidre, Oppland. She was born to Nils Knutson and Rangdi Olsdotte. I know she is in the 1801 census. Is there a way to find her death besides going through the parish registers for every year? I didn't find her in the 1865 census so I assume she had died by then. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Seems like that would be your best option.

http://www.myheritage.no have a record for Ingrid Nilsdotter Skrøviken, but it seems to only contain her place of birth, her fathers name, her husbands name and the name of her two children.

Thanks for your answer. I was hoping there might be a less time-consuming way but doing the research is part of the whole project. And it gives me more experience reading the old records.

His name is Tidemann Tordsen, I believe he was born in 1775 in Aurdal, Oppland. I was just in the archives trying to find his actual birth record. Looks like they were married in 1802 in Vestre Slidre, Oppland. He died in 1854 if I am reading the record correctly. I think he is #37. I haven't been able to read the date of death and burial. Hope this helps. Thanks.

#37 Tidemand Tordsen, føderaadsmand, 79 aar, Skrøvig.
Death 30 Aug 1854, buried 07 Oct 1854.
Buried after 5 weeks???

If he was a widower, I guess that would have been stated, so it's possible Ingrid died after 1854.

Jan, could you tell me what the dates are for his death and burial? As for the children it appears they had a set of twins. Thanks for the information on the children.

Jan - I am really glad you posted the date of marriage. I was on the correct page but didn't realize the date for marriage was in the right hand column of the page. What is the date in the left hand column for?

Saw your post for the date of death and burial. That sure does seem like a long time in-between. I will start looking for her death after his. Thanks for all your help.

Ingri Nielsdatter, Skrøvigen died Jan 8 1827 41 years old, see #11.
She was burried with her daughter Ingri just 8 weeks old.

I see that you spell her lastname "Nilsdotte", which is wrong.

I'm not sure if you understand the meaning by her last name? Her father's first name was Nils, so Ingrid was "Nils' daughter".
In Norwegian daughter is "datter" or "dotter" (dialect), so her lastname should be spelled Nilsdatter / Nilsdotter, or abbrevated Nilsdr. or Nilsdtr.

Einar - Did the daughter die on the 25th and they were buried on 15 Apr? Do you have any idea of what would have caused the deaths? Might it have been a difficult birth or was there possibly a sickness going around at that time?

I believe Tideman Thordsen was baptized Febr 25 1776, see bottom of right page.
His parents were Thord Rudlang and Ragnild Olsdatter.

Jan - thank you for correcting me on her name. I didn't realize it. Will watch that more carefully in the future.
