This is what my Aunt shared from my inquiry to my Uncle Norman Casper:
" The word is, Uncle Norm doesn't know about New York, but Uncle Rolf did live in Fort Lee and Teaneck New Jersey"

Great!

1940
Teaneck, Bergen, New Jersey
Address: East Fort Lee Road
Ralf Casper 43, widowed, born about 1897 in Norway, occupation gas station
Eenar Endrasen 39 lodger, born about 1901 in Norway, carpenter

Mr. Endresen is in the census with Rolf previously also - with Rolf as a manager of a gas station, not a bar, but now it seems it is the right Rolf. Maybe he owned a bar later in life.

Back in an edit with the 1930 census

1930
Teaneck, Bergen, New Jersey
Roy Casper ***34 born 1896 Norway, manager, garage
Gerda Alfrida Casper 37 born about 1893 Sweden
Ernar Endrsen 29 born 1901 Norway
*** transcribed on Ancestry.com as "Roy" but original looks like "Rolf"

Returning to a sibling of Gulbrand ...An Ancestry.com family tree lists Gulbrand Caspersen as having a sister Dora (link posted earlier). Here's a mention of the man who was her husband (according to the family tree), Albert Defiance Sewall:

A family tree that lists Dora and Albert and children:

The ancestry.com rep explained that currently, others can view the Casper Family tree that I've created if I invite them to do so. Otherwise, it won't be "public" until it goes through their indexing process. So, if either of you would view it, It would require an e-mail address, to allow me to "invite" you to view it. Again, thank you both for such amazing information!

Interesting that Maria A Nihleen (Anna Marie Charlotte Guttormsen, Solheim) and her mother Ellen Guttomsen was found in Overpeck Township, Bergen, New Jersey; census-1910.
The other daughter Ida L Hallberg (Ida Lovise Guttormsen) lived in that township in 1910 as well...

No doubt that this is the correct ppl.

Anna Marie Charlotte Guttormsen's husband was a famous shoemaker:

"In 1912, when George M. Cohan starred in his celebrated hit FORTY FIVE MINUTES FROM BROADWAY, the best shoes in town were handmade by Anton Nihleen at Nihleen Boot Maker in a small workshop on the first floor of a brownstone at 30 W. 47th Street.
In their original box – addressed to Mr. Cohan’s home at 993 Fifth Avenue – and in near-perfect condition with their original laces, we present a pair of fine leather, high-laced formal boots worn by "Mr. Broadway" himself.

Hi Carol - thanks for clearing up the mystery about why your family tree wasn't showing up on Ancestry website.
I posted the travel record for just one person -- Anna Emilie Guttormsen Andersen -- going to New York in March 1920 on the ship Stavangerfjord. Is that the question? I didn't see any family members on the ship. You can view the original passenger manifest on the Ellis Island free site.

I am referring to the 1900 Census in Stavanger, where Anna & Edvard and her mother, & appears to be their children living at that location.

I have input Anna & Edvard, and all others (except Ellen) as siblings with Margit Anderson, from the information gleaned off of the 1900 census noted above, originally from Jan. If this is incorrect, please inform me. And yes, the shoe find is amazing!
