Evidence that the family moved to Bo, Telemark as early as 1793 .....both Bergit (number 73) and Gunnild listed under the Bo Parish records. Father listed as Halvor Rodklev.

According to Bydgebok, both Jorgen's died as infants. There is evidence of a third Jorgen b 1785 from Halvor's second wife Ingeborg Jensdat.

Good find Kare ...this confirms the family in Bo census 1801 is the Rodklev Jorgensen family from Seljord.. Looks promising that we have the right family for MY Johanes Halvorsen.

However, it still remains to be inconclusive that this Johanes Halvorsen, son of Halvor Jorgensen and Ingeborg Jensdat. is my ancestor ...father of my great great grandfather. I've looked at the godparents of the babies hoping for a definitive tie from one generation to another with just limited luck. Any suggestions? A Bydgebok for Boe would shed some light on this ?

So I have a good history of the Jorgensen family and there movement from Seljord to Boe circa 1793 .....Their son (presumably) Johannes Halvorsen b. 1787 married Gunild Nilsdat. in Boe 1818 ....she was also born in Boe ....all of their children were born in Boe with the exception of Ingeborg who was born in Sauda 1825....and they left Boe to emigrate to America 1843.... Seems the family was quite mobile between the two locations Boe and Sauda/Seljord.
With Ingeborg being the only child NOT born in Boe ....perhaps there is a better chance of her Godparents being members of the Jorgensen family ....who also lived in Seljord.

Please translate the names from Ingeborg's confirmation attached: # 30

(Am I correct in assuming Sauda = Seljord)

Thanks Kare .....What would be the travel distance from Boe to Sauherad and Boe to Seljord? Are Sauherad and Seljord in proximity to each other? ....both in Telemark right?

Telemark, yes.
They almost share the same borders, depending on where to travel in the parish.
Today ca 30 minutes or less by car.

But they returned to Bø, because on Sept. 19, 1841 they bapt. a son Anders born Sept. 10 in Bø church.
Both parents came from Kleven under Askilt in Bø, see #85

Yep , all of the children were born in Boe with the exception of Ingelborg (born Sauda). Mother Gunild was born in Boe (Kleven under Askilt) but father Johannes Halvorsen was born 1787 on Rue farm Seljord. Ander's was born in 1841 and in 1843 he was an infant on his way to America.

Question remains....Is the Johanes Halvorsen born 1787 on Rue farm Seljord, the same Johanes Halvorsen that married Gunild Nilsdat. Kleven ??? ....the paternal connection to my genealogy. If they had only listed his farm name on his marriage information !

Bachelor Johannes Halvorsen,26 years from Kleven Askilt in Bø, when he married Gunnild, see right page #32

Born ca 1792 plus/minus.

I believe he was born on farm Østerlie Midgaarden in Bø mentioned in the 1801 census on page 10.
Age 13 b. ca 1788 plus/minus.
