Gunild was born 1790. She is the mother of Halvor Johannesen who sailed to America in 1855 with his wife Rannei Thordat and family. There is no mention of Halvor's mother making the trip to America with her son Halvor in 1855 ....yet there is a 70 year old Cornelia Kleven that shows up on the USA Census of 1860 living with Halvor's family.
I'm looking for any information on Gunild leaving Norway as a 60 year old.....there is also some information about a Andrew Kleven (Cleven) in the USA census of 1860 as a 17 year old living with the Halvor Johannesen (Johnson) family that we think might be related but have no information on.

It is interesting that Ancestry.com links the Cornelia Johnson listed above with Gunhild Nilsdatter. This is the listing Cornelia is linked to.

lyndal: Yes I would think they are the same people. The Boone County census (I've been told) indicates them in the same household as Halvor Johannesen ( Johnson) wife Randina (Ranaei) Johnson and children Thor (TOM), Johanne (John), Guinild (Nellie) , Gunder (George), Oliver and Nels. We think she might be Halvor's mother but have no record that she left Norway.??

This is the family directly below Cornelia Johnson and it appears to be the family you have written about, however the man is named Nelson not Halvor? They are listed as different families ie 1932 and 1933. I do not know if that means different places or just different families.

You work the magic lyndal ! This Andrew has been a curiosity for 100 years. He was thought to be a son of Halvor but turns out he is Havor's much younger brother ! If I could find out when he and his mother left Norway it would complete the mystery.....perhaps in the Boe parish records. Thank you !
