Many thanks P. Hopkins from the USA for all that information. It's nice to know that a starting member in this community can benefit from the wisdom of a Norway Heritage Veteran.
Kind regards,
David

Always fun to stop by and read the research. But I'm a bit confused. Is the following correct, for children born to Anne?

Anders Gundersen born 01 May 1844
----------Anne and Knud get married 1845
Even Knudsen born 27 October 1846
Olaf Pedersen born 13 Sep 1847
Olaf's stillborn twin
Stener Knudsen born 29 October 1848
Jorgen Knudsen born 11 Aug 1852

from Ancestry.com
Norway, Select Baptisms, 1634-1927
Eivind Knudsen
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 27 Oct 1846
Baptism Date: 8 nov 1846
Baptism Place: Seljord, Telemark, Norway
Father: Knud Evensen
Mother: Anne Stenersdr
See #119

From lyndal40:
"Here is a Steiner born in 1848, Father Knud Evendsen and mother Anne Steinersdatter, See number 109."
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20051005061117.jpg

Census 1865 widower Knud with his mother and sons Even, Stener, and Jĝrgen.

Anders's father Gunder also has another child in 1844 (listed on an Ancestry.com family tree as Egeleiv Gunnarsen) with his wife Edel Tovsdatter? (No further info on this birth - just says born 1844 in Norway).

I haven't been immersed in this, so I am just checking....
It's a little confusing because people seem to be having babies with partners they are not married to. Of course, it can happen.

Anders Gundersen born Mai 1. 1844 was born out of wedloc, parents; Unmarried woman Anne Stenersdatter Bugten in Seljord and "gift Mand" married man Gunder Jĝrgensen Toe.

When Knud Evensen and Anne Stenersdatter married Dec. 5. 1845 Ane is rec. as Anne Stenersdatter Ĝverland (in Seljord) and that her father Stener was in America.

When Even Knudsen was born Oct. 27. 1846 Knud Evensen and Anne Stenersdatter lived on Aarhusmoen.

And Stener Knudsen born on Aarhusmoen Oct. 29. 1848.

It is confusing;
When Olaf Pedersen was born Sept. 13. 1847 Anne Stenersdatter Bugten is rec. as unmarried.

Would Anne be noted as unmarried for Olaf's birth meaning not married to Olaf's father? Because obviously she is married if it is the same Anne. And how does Anne know who the father is for sure? Well I guess that's a question the forum cannot answer. I am just surprised because I thought the child of a married woman would automatically be presumed to be her husband's child.

This is how I read it.

Anne was not married to Olafs father or to anyone else.

There must have been two Anne Stenersdatter in Seljord at the same time??
If Anne was born Jan 13- 1819 and Stener Halvorsen Evensen em. to America before she married we know that he and Ane Hansdatter was her parents.

The dates are a little confusing based on the above baptism, but this looks like the death record for Anne, See number 55 right page.

Maybe, but this record for Ane born Jan 13, 1819 lists a different father.

In the 2007 thread Kaare identified 2 Stener Evensen in 1801:

Stener Evensen Hedejord age 6 parents Even Raadmundsen and Sidsel Augustinsdtr

Stener Evenson Tios age 5 in Aamotsdal father Even Gudmundson.

The Original Poster, David's cousin, cited her Anne as born 03 Jan 1819 in Lie with father Stener Evensen but gave no source or rational, and had no more information at that time. Maybe David can supply the source. Maybe Anne, mother to Aners born 1844, ancestor to David, is daughter of Stener --?-- ( not Evenson). It seems hard to believe that:
1. Anne has a child Anders 1844
2. Marries Knud 1845
3. Has a child Evind at Aarhusmoen
4. Is caring for baby Evind while having a fling with Peder Olsen
5. Gives birth to Olaf on farm Bugt and names Peder as father
6. Gives birth at Aarhusmoen to Stener, Jorgen, and ?; father is Knud
7. Seems to have lived at Aarhusmoen and dies at Aarhusmoen

So as Kaare says, it is likely two similar Annes.

Just trying to summarize.
