5. Gives birth to Olaf on farm Bugt and names Peder as father
6. Gives birth at Aarhusmoen to Stener, Jorgen, and ?; father is Knud
7. Seems to have lived at Aarhusmoen and dies at Aarhusmoen

So as Kaare says, it is likely two similar Annes.

Just trying to summarize.

Sometimes these issues can at least be a bit more clarified by 1 )studying the faddernes for each of the babies--repetition of names, same farm names, matching patronymics, etc. 2) finding which Annes may have lived to be confirmed 3) finding which Annes died or moved away or moved into a parish.

Thanks both of you. Typing on phone, not near computer tonight. Lyndal40, I guess I am raising the question whether it is correct that father is Evensen. About baptism record for Olaf, Einar provided a transcription in 2007. No one jumps out as obvious relation. But yes those names could be leads and compared to other family records. And as you say Jackie the other Annes can be tracked. The forum tracked Anne S and Knud E. Only through that does it emerge that it's hard to swallow it's just one Anne. A mistaken identity would be easy to understand (if that's what happened).

So to summarize the facts for my own family tree...my great grandfather Anders Gunderson (01 May 1844) born illegitimately to Gunder Jorgensen Toe & Anne Stennersdatter is confirmed.

The Gunder Jorgensen Toe & Anders father/son relationship has been independently endorsed by Christopher Flaat & Roberta Stepan...with an abundance of new family members now identified in Minnesota. That was an exciting new discovery for the Australian descendants.

I am not sure that I am totally convinced regarding staking a claim on behalf of Anders to any potential half-siblings born to my Anne Stenersdatter.

David, you may have to consult one of the five Bygdebøker written on the area. University of North Dakota has all five in their collection and the University of Minnesota has the first three.

I have used the services of the University of North Dakota by e-mail. successfully in the past. I will put together an e-mail tomorrow for you to Michael Swanson at the UND Library and see if he can investigate a little and maybe he can shed some light on the subject.

Annes father was Stener Evensen, "gift Mand" married Man Stener Evensen leaving farm Hadland in Seljord March 13. 1839, see right page #13

Stener Evensen was among the first em. from Telemark.
In 1839 two big parties left for America from dep. port Drammen, Buskerud county.
One party from Numedal in Buskerud "The Nattestad party", one party from Tinn in Telemark, "The Luraas party".
Stener must most likely have traveled with the Telemark party on 40 50 persons (He left Seljord alone) who had to take another ship from Drammen to Gothenborg Sweden because the ship in Drammen was crowded.

I will send an e-mail to Michael Swanson, Assistant Archivest, at the Special Collections Library, University of North Dakota. He has helped me obtain information from the Bygdebøk in their collection many times in the past. It my be a few days and a few back and forth e-mails before he can figure out what it is that you need, but we will get there.

I have a candiate but the ink is blurred.
This Anne Stenersd? died July 2. 1857 on Aarhusmoen, age 30? is incorrect, age 36? is more correct, see #78

Kåre, I went back and looked again at the death record for Anne Stenersdatter earlier on page 2, I think that record is the same one as the one I found in a different data set. I think if you look again you will come to the conclusion that record states she died October 22, 1857, same as the date in my record. So thus we have found only one death record for Anne Sternersdatter but in two places.
