So what happened to the other twin? I am also still checking for any death records on the daughter Kari born in 1878 in Norway. I will ask the Pastor to see if there is anything in the church records for these two. I would like to get the birth records for Lars and Peter from Norway if possible. That might help trace them here. I would also like to get Kari's mothers name (have her father's name now from the marriage record) My family tree that has had huge gaps and question marks is filling in at last!

IF Kari went to St. Peter's in 1888, Sigurd was only 8 and the twins would be 2 and Hans only 1sh. Then Lars died 5 years later. These children hardly knew either parent.

Dates of birth and immigration are correct. And Odin is not a very big place. :)

The death record listing Moen as the mother is not my Lars but somehow goes back to the beginning of this thread.

The birthdate matches, reserve judgement before you reject.

One thing rumbling around in my head. Jackie foiund a death certificate for Thomas Larsen with not only the exact correct birth date but also the name Rusten. Now who is it in Redwood County that knew these facts. If the Thomas Larson that I found in Redwood/Brown and Renville County is the correct person,he did not even know his correct birth date for his WWI Registraton and did not know his mothers name for his second marriage in Iowa.

Boggles my mind

Maybe worth obtaining the Death Cert and find out who filled it out.

I believe baptismal records of both Lars and Peter have already been posted. Those records ARE the vital records for Norway during that era.

Definately getting cert to see who is informant would be good. My guess is his wife knew the family business, as they usually do!

But truly none of us know our own birthdate unless someone else informs us.

Here are the baptism record for Lars and Peter found in Digitalarkivet. Posted earlier by Jane and then duplicated by me in a posting frenzy in the wee houirs of the night. These are the only birth record that you will be able to obtain.

Lars See Number 44

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=6072&idx_id=6072&uid=ny&idx_side=-53

When I look at the original record I think it says that Lars is an illegimate child and that this is the first sexual experience for the couple. ie "lejermål fornication, sexual intercourse between unmarried persons" . If this Hans Larsen is the same as the Hans Larsen found in the 1865 Norwegian Census, should it not state that he was already married?

Peder See number 64

Well Nancy we are counting on you being able to sort though all of the various bits and pieces of information posted and come up with a coherent and supportable story. That may be a very long and time consuming task. This is a very interesting and complex family to say the least.
