How long did they stay in New York? Long enough for a baby to be baptized. Who did Gustaf state as his destination in New York? |

They may have never made it to New York. I had a tough time finding their arrival, until I stumbled upon Agnes in the Massachusetts arrivals. Here is Nicoline arriving with children in the Massachusetts records.
She is listed as going to her husband Gustav Lindberg, Rappidan, Minnestoa.
Lina Lindberg in the Massachusetts, Passenger and Crew Lists, 1820-1963 Name: Lina Lindberg Gender: Female Estimated birth year: abt 1869 Age: 34 Port of Departure: Liverpool, England Ship Name: Ultonia Arrival Date: 19 Jun 1903 Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts Friend's Name: Gustav Lindberg Last Residence: Christiania
Found using blind luck technique under Agnes Lindberg
Agnes Lindberg in the Massachusetts, Passenger and Crew Lists, 1820-1963 Name: Agnes Lindberg Gender: Female Estimated birth year: abt 1893 Age: 10 Port of Departure: Liverpool, England Ship Name: Ultonia Arrival Date: 19 Jun 1903 Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts Friend's Name: Gustav Lindberg Last Residence: Christiania |

If this is the right Haakon, then where does Weng come from? From his birth place? from his father (a name from Sweden?)?
from Ancestry.com, Norway, Select Marriages database
Name: Carl Erikson, 26 Birth Date: 1838 Marriage Date: 21 Aug 1864 Marriage Place: Ostre Aker, Oslo, Akershus, Norway Father: Erik Andersen Spouse: Kirstine Hansdr FHL Film Number: 255739 Reference ID: 2:133HXSD See #19 |

Weng is no more and maybe less common in Sweden than in Norway.
In Ancestry.com there are about 21 million baptism records and only 44 with the last name Weng. None of them named Hakon.
There are about 5 million marriages and only 15 named Weng. Most of them in the County of Akershus. None of them named Hakon.
In Ancestry.com there are about 26 million baptism records for Sweden and only two named Weng. None named Hakon.
A separate data base of Indexed Baptisms of about 12 million names contains only 7 Weng. None named Hakon.
Not much better luck can be found using Wang, Veng or Vang. Although Vang is probably the most common, but still only a few hundred out of millions and none with the first name of Hakon or Haakon for that matter.
So why the Weng? Was it a mis-spelling by the person who filled out the manifest. or what, hard to come to a good conclusion.
The only thing we know is that the Hakon Ericksen found in New York does belongs to the family you have posted above. However we have yet to find any connection to Jørgine Strand. The only reason for coming back to him again and again is that he is the only Hakon in New York in the right time frame, and of the right age and unmarried (actually a widower). |

There is a Veng farm in Enebak Parish, Akershus County. But I have not found any Hakon connected to it.
There are some Hakons connected with a Vang farm. The one with a birth year of some interest is this one.

Here is a snippet from wikipedia on Rapidan, Minnesota: "Rapidan Township is a township in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, United States. "
Blue Earth county is where Jorgine's and Nicolena's uncles lived. |

The mother's home / farm is Egebergsvingen. Perhaps the source? |

My fault also, I should have realized since you were asking about Nicoline as well, that your question referred to her husband Gustaf and not her brother Gustav A Ericksen. It was Gustav A Ericksen who ended up in New York in 1900 and was going to see his brother Hakon Ericksen.
Anders Gustav Lindberg left in 1902
http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/gen/vis/8/pe00000000529788
Here is arrival of Anders Gustav Lindberg husband of Nicoline. He is going to H. A. Strand, Rappidan, M
Name: Gust Lindberg Arrival Date: 13 Sep 1902 Birth Date: abt 1878 Age: 24 Gender: Male Ethnicity/ Nationality: Swedish Port of Departure: Southampton, England Port of Arrival: New York, New York Ship Name: Philadelphia |

Hi - again
I have been looking a little closer at Håkon Einar Wang born 29. oct. 1877 in Vestre Aker. (I must admit he is my number one suspect at the moment.) In the norwegian 1900 census he is living in Oslo with his widowed mother Sofia and sister Asta using the name Einar Vang. He is a mechanic in Frognerkilen which is very close to Snarøya where Jørgine's sister lived 1900. His mother's occupation is "syr" (is sewing) and in the 1910 census his sister Asta is "syerske" (seamstress) just like Jørgine was in 1893. He might have met Jørgine either in Oslo, near his workplace or as his mother's/sister's colleague. 1900 census: http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft/person/pf01037045067304 1910 census: http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/ft/person/pf01036392021361
But I have not found him leaving Norway. If he could be found in New York, the evidences would be very strong! The names he might have used in any combination are Håkon Einar Olsen Andersen Wang (in different spelling-variations).
The relative of Jørgine I'm helping is right now in New York visiting relatives. He has also planned to search for Jørgine.
