I made the assumption that the Vilhelm and Wilhelm are really the same person. But of course the first Vilhelm could have died young and the name Wilhelm used for a latter child.

From Monday 17 Feb 1908 Daily Register-Gazette (Rockford, Illinois), page 1, col 3:

"Olaf Hansen, charged with stealing two watches from John Knudson, an Orfordville farmer, waved examination in Judge Rosa's court this morning and was bound over for trial. ...... He came to [t]his country from Norway six months ago and found work on the Knudson farm. .... Hansen can speak no English and required an interpreter in court."

Here is an Olaf Hansen leaving in 1907 from Bærum:

The only mention of Sverre Hansen in the Rockford newspapers was a report on 24 Dec 1908 that his mother (she was not named) had appealed for his release from two legal matters (one involved theft of a gun) because she needed his help to support the family. Otherwise he would have been sent to Pontiac reformatory.

In the 1910 census Sverre Hansen is listed as married and is living with Bergette Hansen who I think is Carl's wife actually at least she
appears with him in the 1920 census him https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MKF6-K5M

Thanks not enough info to rule this guy in or out. And if Sverre became Olaf then the bets are off.

After talking to one of the older members of the family (Josef Hansen's granddaughter) she did not think his entire family came to the U.S. She also said that Josef said his mother had 18 children - 18!! I've been going over this information and I am still a little overwhelmed. You have all helped to fill in so many blanks! Thank you for your help :)

The obit of Emil Hansen published in Rockford Republic on 16 Feb 1920 says that he turned 22 on 8 Jan 1920 and that he died of tuberculosis and was survived by his mother, a sister Molly H. Hansen in Norway, two sisters Harriet and Hazel and four brothers named Harold, Charles W., Gust and Alex all of Rockford.

In the list of defendants there is an Amalie Hansen and a Ludwig Hansen. Since Amalie stayed in Norway here is a possible from the 1910 census:
