Last time I posted a topic the response was overwhelming and again my ability to find what I look for is limited so I've to address the keyboard detectives again.

Odd Hermann Gulbrandsen 1897-1970. Went to America but repatriated when he became terminally ill and died in Norway. He had a wife whose name is lost but one came up with the name Tyne. Would be nice to have her identity. There is no rumor on children but did they have?

The other Gulbrandsen is Gudrun Sofie Vieille born June 6, 1870 in Norway. She got married toJulius Vieille and had a son dentist Albert Vieille. The family broke up and Albert ended in fostercare. This happend most likely when Gudrun Sofie was relatively young so I'm wondering if she managed to recover and remarried and had more children? It would be very interesting to hear more about her demise.

Gudrun Sofie was born in Trondheim, here in family in 1885 census:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01053300013697

Here in 1875:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01052359006210

Barbering and wigmaking is apparently the "family" occupation.

Possibly Gudrun leaving in 1887:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/8/pe00000000092811

What is the source of your beginning information on Gudrun?

Hello jkmarler - yes thank you for your assistance but I'm awfully sorry I wasn't able to enlighten the keyboard detectives that I'm seeking post Norway information on the demise of Gudrun Sofie Vieille born Gulbrandsen. In USA the Vieilles got problems. Son Albert ended in fostercare and maybe the couple divorced. I'm wondering what happend to Gudrun Sofie? Did she live on with Julius Vieille and had more children? Did she repatriate to Norway? Didi she start a new life with a new man and had more children? This is the unanswered excitement for the time being and I'll be very happy to receive information on these issues.

Okay so where did you get your information? Where in US did the son Albert live?

Albert Vielle is not a common name. I found two but not much about either. One was quite a bit older than even Gudrun so I think he could be eliminated the other lived in Maine and was married to Bertha Carter.

Her man was Julius Constant Vieille maybe of French origin. They had a son dentist Albert C Vieille who married Irene Vieille and Geraldin Vieille born Gutterson. Albert C fathered 2 sons Richard and pilot Robert who died during service in the WWII. Hope this can help you. As I said Albert ended in fostercare and lost all knowledge of his parents. Gudrun Sofie might have died in 1932

Okay so you filled in some additional detail, still doesn't answer the question where did the information you have come from if Albert C lost all knowledge of his origins.

Vielle could be French or French speaking Swiss or about a half dozen derivations.

This Gertrude Gutterson?

Or this Geraldine Gutterson?

Or this Geraldine Gutterson:

There are two articles at genealogybank.com from the Los Angeles Herald about a Constantin Vielle. One published on 31 Dec 1892 concerning Constantin's conviction of carrying concealed firearms. The other is a news story about C Vielle from 1905 about a robbery at his café.

"Mrs. Gudrun Vielile has instituted a third suit for divorce against Constant Vielle. "

Los Angeles Herald, Number 202, 20 April 1899

The 2nd divorce was dismissed in 1898 as the witnesses to attest to Constant's desertion failed to testify that Constant had deserted her.

Albert had to have known his father if this article is correct:

A small comment to jkmarker before I give you all credit for your valuable help: I came across a letter from the dentist Vieille to Sverre Gulbrandsen in Norway where he gave a summary of his life in multiple foster homes. The demise of his parents he knew nothing about.

Okay. Well to draw some additional ties to the Gudrun Buchanan, do you know when her father died and have you looked at his dødsfallsprotokol? It might have her name and location. As it is, why was Albert writing to Sverre Gulbrandsen, anyway?
