Torn Sorensen of Rupert BC might be a relative of wife Aminda Regine Arntsen? Her father was Arve Sørensen, and Elias' best man at the wedding was Driver Birger Sørensen of Bergen.

This must be him in 1900 Norwegian Census

1900

And in 1910

1910

And when he left Norway in 1924

Link

Well I can little sense out of what we found on various Elias Olsen's and the information originally provided by the OP.

This information from the OP " born 2/7/1899 in the municipality of Vagan, municipality number 1865, name of domicile: Svolvaer" does not fit the man who arrived in Canada and then Alaska and then Mass. at all.

So this info on a child fits, did he come to Canada looking for work, wonder all over America, end up in Mass. and then bring his wife and children over.

So maybe Elias Olsen of the OP is not any of the Elias Olsen's found yet. This may be the death record of the Elias Olsen of the OP

Elias Olsen
in the Web: Canadian Headstone Index, 1840-2017
Name: Elias Olsen
Cemetery: Les Jardins Commémoratifs Lakeview Memorial Gardens (Pointe-Claire)
Burial Place: Montréal, Québec, Canada
Notes: Elias (Bill) Olsen May 28, 1900 - Mar. 9, 1952

A tree lists him as married to

Phyllis Audrey Olsen
BIRTH 22 DEC 1924 • Canada, New Brunswick, Canada
DEATH 2017 • Canada

Tree belongs to Holly Lindsay, likely the sister of the OP

Here's a possibility, traveling close to stated emigration date:
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/8/pe00000000751095

1900 census
Odda, Hordaland
https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01037310001188

Birth of the above Elias Olsen 05 February 1900
https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/3691/72921/37

So, not a match to the Canadian headstone.

Well, OP is looking for a man named Elias Olsen, born 2/7/1899 in Svolvaer. Which fits with our man.

I think we'll have to wait for the OP to return here, so she can verify what is facts from the US, and what is assumptions found online.

As a guess, the sisters have used an online search website and found an Elias Olsen in Norway. Then the facts about the Elias in Norway were stated, rather than facts about their Elias.

Just a guess.

Yes, I agree. We don't even know if Elias stayed in the US or Canada or Australia.... OP lives in Australia.

Maybe we can do some research that could elimainate Elias from Nordland.

Now Elias Schøning Dreyer Olsen was born 10/10/1897 and baptized 7/17/98 and confirmed June 16 1912

#18

Parents for this guy are Edvard Mart. Eliasen and Magdelen Kristine ?

Not the same parents are the one born in 1899.

Here is a marriage record for Elias Schønning Dreyer Telstad born about 1899. Married 4-24 1940. Now it is in Hordaland not Nordland so we shall see. Same as the one found by JaneC on page one.

Link

And Original record, birth date is Feb 7, 1899.

#37

And then married a second time to Kristine Sofie Tvedt Linnenbügger, who was married in 1936 as well.

Since our poster is in Australia perhaps this is their Elias Olsen?

There is another Elias Telstad who died 10 Mar 1963 aged nearly 64 years. Survivors include his widow (?) Kristine Telstad and siblings whose names are not included in the OCR text at the National Library site, as published in the Bergens tidende on 12 Mar 1963 page 27.
