Can anyone help me trace my ancestors from Stokke Vestfold and then Moss Ostfold. Ive got info about Stokke from 1865 census. An ancestor was born 1886 in Moss Ostfold but I cannot find any more information. I have lots of information including family names and farm name. Thank you |

Im sorry but I didnt give any more detail because I didnt want to overpower people with too much info straight away this is what I have.
1865 census 720 Stokke living at Raastad Sondre farm Notteroy,Stokke
My GT grandfather was Ole Nikolausen born 1853 he became a ships carpenter and settled in Scotland he can be discounted because I have all his information right up to his death in 1905.
Father Nikolai Johnasen born 1811 Sweden died 1885 Stokke Mother Oliana Olsdatter born Notteroy 1820 Brother leonard born Stokke 1860 died Stokke 1877 Sister Mathine born Stokke 1855 Last person on the census entry is a relation who was a sailor
The only other info I can find is Mathine married Anders Klaus and they had at least one daughter Martha Elida born 1886 at Moss Ostfold. So would her name be Martha Elida Andersdatter ? I cannot find Mathine/Anders marriage Ive tried many variations of their names, but need someone with a better knowledge of Norweigan geneaology to help me. I know we still have living family in the area so it would be nice to bring my research up to the 21st century. Thanks

I got the information from the Norwegian census website dont ask me to spell it and Family Search. Also Ole death certificate and marriage certificate confirmed parents names. From memory I tried Ancestry but got nowhere might have been my fault looking in the wrong place or putting in the wrong information |

If your family was from Stokke, then the Martine / Klaus connection is not yours. |

Lyndal The one you quote married to Anders Klausen is the one I found. All I can tell you she was born 1855 in Stokke. Do Norwegian wedding certificates give parents names ? If there are 2 Martine Nikolasdatter Ive no idea how to work out which one is which..Also geographically Vestfold and Ostfold are only across Oslo Fford from each other . On rechecking Ole wedding cert in 1886 his father is listed as a builder. |

Yes the Norwegian wedding records do sometimes give fathers names.
In this case both wedding records do give the name of the father.
And shown on page 2 help define which Martine is which. |
