One thing about the Sime family is that they appear to have immigrated in 1867, so maybe we should not dismiss them quite so rapidly.

I have sent out a request to get a copy of the actual marriage record. I will let you know if and when it comes in.

Hi,

Good.

Re Sime. I checked the 1865 census farm search for Sime but found none and there were only 3 fylke with Seim. I didn't check for farms containing Sime but only those named as Sime / Seim.

Ole T. Seim is in Nordmændene i Amerika on page 906. It says he left Aardal, Sogn in 1873 and came to Soldier's Grove, Wisconsin. Has a son named Thomas Seim.

There is an Anders Seim from Seim, Wiks pr, Sogn 1886 later in Flandreau South Dakota.

There is also an Anfin Anfinson Seim who was a pioneer but I don't have the other volume to check to see where he settled.

A little history from Facebook

A history of the Utica congregation, for the 140th Anniversary celebration

On March 13th, 1871 a meeting was held at the house of Paul Hansen Helland in the Town of Utica, Crawford County, WI. The meeting was called by Ole Halverson, who was then elected chair of the meeting. Helge Hauge was elected secretary. Hauge proposed the organization of a congregation; the motion carried unanimously. Ole Halverson had prepared a draft constitution which was also adopted.

A congregational meeting was held in September of the same year, at which time several more families were received into membership and Jacob Kvamme was selected as precentor (lay minister) and the first parochial school teacher. Present at this congregational meeting were the following: Tallak Asbjornson (Aspenson), A. Asbjornson, S. Jacobson, N. Dale, J Bruvolden, E. Nelson, A. Pederson, Ole Halvorson, Andrew Moldrem, Ole Johanneson, Paul Helland, Agrim Thorson, Kristian Johanneson, Peder Agrimson Lysne, Ole Olson Dolvin, Lasse Jacobson, Johan Anderson, Anders Thoreson, Nels Tollefson, Tolleif Gusteson, Mathias Jacobson, Peder Olson, Jens Kvigne, Anna Sime (a widow), Tolleif Nelson, Knut Boe, Helge Hauge, Jens Spangeloe, Jens Kallevang, Tosten Olson, N. O. Bjorkum, Ole T. Sime, Hans Korsta, and Pastor Juve.

Hi,

Here are the utflyttedes from Aardal in 1867. Anne appears to be listed as Anne Larsdtr Seim age 20. And there are two Ole Thomassen Seim leaving at the same time.

Source information: Sogn og Fjordane county, Årdal, Parish register (official) nr. A 3 (1863-1886), Migration records 1867, page 346.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=6949&idx_id=6949&uid=ny&idx_side=-281

Curiouser and curiouser,

I think this is the family in the 1865 Census. Includes Anna Andersdatter. Age is 25.

Hi,

Here is Anne Andersdatter's confirmation, #17:

Source information: Sogn og Fjordane county, Årdal, Parish register (official) nr. A 1 (1834-1863), Confirmation records 1855, page 40.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=6947&idx_id=6947&uid=ny&idx_side=-41

Curious that her neither her birthdate nor her baptismal dates are given in this record like the others on the page. Also curious is the vaccination date of 1836, since her age 15 1/4 might lead one to suppose she was born 1838-1839....

The last name Johannesdatter just jogged my memory so I went back and looked at the ships manifest again. Just after Anne Andersdatter there are four girls.
Johanne Johannesdatter age 23
Kari Johannesdatter age 22
Marthe Johannesdatter age 17
Anne Johannesdatter age 13

Name: Girl Kari Johannesdatter
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1845
Date of Arrival: 1867
Vessel: Claus Heftige
Search Ship Database: View the 'Claus Heftige' in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Port of Arrival: Quebec

I wonder if they are all one big family.
