The mystery is solved!
Your Anna Anderson is the Anna Sime who was found by Jackie and lyndal40!

Anna Andersdr
Birth 13 Oct 1838
Christening 11 Nov 1838
Source: Sogn og Fjordane county, Luster, Parish register (official) nr. A 5 (1831-1841), Birth and baptism records 1839, page 53.
Father: Anders Asbjørnson Lingjerde, b. abt 1813, Hafslo, Luster, Sogn & Fjordane
Mother : Kari Pedersdtr Natvik, b. 5 Dec 1813, Kinserdal, Hafslo, Sogn & Fjordane, d. 10 May 1889, Utica twp., Crawford Co., WI, USA

Kari emigrated with Anna on the ship "Claus Heftige" in 1867. Bertha Johannesdatter (26) on the same ship is Anna's half-sister.
They have the same mother, but Berthas father is Johannes Torsteinsson Seim (11 Feb 1815 - 23 Jul 1861)

This familytree says Anna died 05 Dec 1913 in Utica, Wis.

Notes by Oddvar Natvik:
08.02.2003: Anna is a daughter of Kari Pedersdotter, born out of wedlock in Hafslo. She grew up at Seim, and went with her mother and family to USA. Anna was confirmed on 06.08.1854, living at Seim.

13.03.2009: Jacon Vedvik write in a letter of 26.11.1990: ...a death record for a Mrs Anna Jackson, who was born November 2, 1838 in Norway and died December 5, 1913 in the Town of Utica at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 3 days. Her parent's names were given as Johannes Torstenson and Kari Sime. She probably is buried in the Utica Lutheran Church Cemetery. She was a widow at the time of her death." This is much likely Anna Andersdr who Kari had with Anders Lingjerde, Hafslo. The birth date matches pretty well. Anna went along with her mother Kari to America.

Anna's stepfather was Johannes Torstenson Seim who married Kari Pedersdr in 1841.

Jan Peter. I could just give ya a big hug right now. Excellent work. Well that solves most of the mystery. Any records of where Anders Asbjørnson Lingjerde might have died and when? Thank you again.

Hi Lucas,

Judging from the baptismal records of Aardal and Lærdal I saw, he was a busy man (or at least someone with the same name was busy) --I didn't particularly note it but I thought I saw him mentioned as 3rd or 4th time father of illegitimate children...

A few unknowns for Lucas to work on.

Andrew Jackson had a son Jacob born abt 1876 and in the 1880 census is listed as a widower. Question who was his first wife and mother of Jacob?

Anna Andersdatter Seim (Sime) Had a son Andrew born abt 1877 shown again in the 1880 census. . Who is his father. Is it Andrew Jackson or?

I missed that second part. Anna had a child before she married Anders Jackson??? Whoa! Talk about a family with low morals!

It is not surprising that you missed it. You have six pages of data some relevant, some not relevant posted on this subject. You could do worse than spend several days even weeks wading through the posts and extracting out the useful parts. Anyway here is the 1880 Census for Anna Sime, she is listed as a widow with young son Andrew. Maybe she was married before Andrew Jackson and thus her morals are just fine.

No doubt you could find them in Ancestry.

I'm not sure "morals" has much to do with this. There are lots of cultural reasons why there were illegitimates in Norway--it has been the subject of a good deal of anthropological study.
In fact, I've read somewhere that 49% of births in Norway in 2000 were to unmarried partners. Apparently, it is something which still speaks to Norwegians. But until you find whether or not Anna was married & to whom, that child may not have been illegitimate.

Hi,

From the marriage record copy supplied (thanks for same) it appears that Andrew and Anna were not married in the church of which they were founding members (see secular & S. L. D Layton might be a judge or even a ship's captain)...

Well, Good news on this topic. I called the Utica Church in Wisconsin and the pastor called me back this week. Gave me 2 peoples phone numbers in charge of the archives. The one with the church archive turns has the last name Sime!!!! Turns out she is a half cousin to my grandmother. (Small world). It gets better......

The other one who has the cemetery records is also a half cousin. She is from the ancestral line of that Andrew Sime that Anna had out of wedlock. (1880 census). No it was not Anders Jackson (Bruvoll) son. Turns out it was someone by the name of Ole Josvanjer. After he found out Anna was pregnant, he took off a few counties away and left them. Not only that, but she is also living on the exact same farm that my grandmother was born and raised in. (Really small world) We are glad that mystery got solved within a week. We are meeting them both on Sept 9th. Thanks again guys. Hopefully the records will tell us what Ander Jackson Bruvoll former wife might've been and who was the mother of lil Jakob.
