When Christine O landed in New York in 1893 she was travelling as Flugstad along with a 28 year old Randoni Flugstad a wife and a child Mathilda Flugstad age 5. Destination was Wisconsin. 1893 is too early a date for the information of who was at your destination and who was your nearest relative back whence you came.

Julie being on the Hellig Olav probably stopped in New York and that information may be recorded for her.

Marriage record of Otto and Euphemia. Interesting that his father is identified as Christopher not Anders:

First wife Euphemia gravesite here: link

Second wife Agnes Wilson died 1979, age 102, per Find a Grave. Otto d 1954, both buried Black River Falls.
See Wisconsin Historical Society records, FAG, newspaper interview w Agnes at age 92, etc. The original destination fir Otto in 1886 was Galesville, Wisconsin - same given by Christine in 1893, so maybe that's where the missing Anders went...

Interesting findings since my last post!!"

JaneC....between you (the grave index) and others, I've been able to properly put to death (that sounds awfully wrong!) four ancestors today, and track Julie to the shores of America.
Great day in Bjercke-Jadah genealogy, thanks to you all.
And yes, I have found out that that illegitimate, oddly-parented Otto from Faaberg ended up with quite a successful life in Wisconsin, and became a pillar of the Lutheran community.
Quite a turnaround from counting sheep for farm owners, yes?

This may be Christine's Gina's brother Georg b abt 1860 found in FAG in US:
http://findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Flugstad&GSiman=1&GScnty=3018&GRid=24569470&

Christine is probably in the graveyard in Melrose, too as "Grandmother"

This is from the Western Wisconsin Scandinavian Obituaries website:

MRS. OLINE EVENSON (FAABERG)
Mrs. Oline Evenson died at the Lutheran hospital at Eau Claire March 4, and her remains were brought to Pigeon Falls. Funeral services were held March 8, Rev. A.J. Orke officiating. Mrs. Evenson, daughter of Ole and Christine Flugstad, was born at Faaberg, Norway, March 23, 1857. She came to America in 1882, and in the same year, she was united in marriage to Sever Evenson. They settled on a farm at North Bend, Jackson county, but later moved to Schimmerhorn valley where her husband died in 1899. Two children were born to them, Peter and Clara. Peter died in 1914. Her daughter was married to Bernt Magelie, who died in 1918, and a year after she also died. Mr. and Mrs. Magelie left three children and since the death of their parents, have been cared for by their grandmother, Mrs. Evenson. In 1923, Mrs. Evenson sold her farm and moved to Pigeon Falls, where she bought a home, and continued to care for her grandchildren. Her brother, Otto, also made his home with her. Mrs. Evenson went through many hardships and trials, but in faith and patience, she took up the cross-God has been her comfort and refuge. THE WHITEHALL TIMES - MARCH 24, 1927

...seems Julie didn't fare near as well as sort-of-brother Otto. She arrived too late to be part of Michigan's 1930 census, and is nowhere to be found by the 1940 one.
May be she was abducted by renegade Sioux between NY and Grand Rapids, or taken hostage by Jesse James robbing her train. (That'd give me something to tell my children.)
Alas, I'll stick to facts a while longer....thanks, all.

Julie arrived too late for 1910 US census, true.

You seem to have plenty of stories to tell already, ROBJE!

FAG memorials probably created by granddaughter of Mathilde Flugstad: link

On FAG, click creator to fetch email option.

BTW, thanks for all the thanks for all. Lovely.

Oh; I've more than thanks for y'all, Janec.
Just wait until maple syrup season!
Yes; I'd e-mailed Stangl a year ago, but have never heard back. Mathile and her mother Randine had sent photos from the New Land back to Christian Andersen Flugstad, though, so I knew all about them.
And there's another WOW posting by jk just above, which may help me tie up another loose tree n the tangled tree (and you haven't heard the half of it yet....): whatever happened to Oline (of whom I also have undated, un-sourced photos)? But I have her as born 1853, and to Christine and Christian. Who the hell is Ole, and why is he messing with my lineage?

Love it!

Thomas S. (Tom) Flugstad
Thomas S. (Tom) Flugstad, Died at the Julia Temple Healthcare Facility on April 4, 2013. He is survived by his wife Donna, and his sons Tim Dibbins and Steve Dibbins. A graduate of East High School in Denver and Yale University, Tom's most cherished memories include singing with the Yale Whiffenpoofs, competing in Labrador Retriever Field Trials, and flying single-engine airplanes.

Denver Post, The (CO) - Sunday, April 7, 2013

The above is from genealogybank. Another article about him in 1959 says he was ordained as an Episcopalian deacon, he of Denver, Colorado but his parents M/M Wilson Flugstad were from Detroit.

Popping in and out, maybe I should check - Oline would be sister to Gina and daughter to Christian Gundersen and Christine Olsdatter? Birth record Faaberg/Faaberg has her born March 1853?

The obit seems to be the correct Oline. Obit says Oline had two children and both died before her: Informant for obit may be confused or ill-informed, maybe "Ole" is a recollection of Christine's patronym, or newspaper may have "written up" info from an interview and introduced confusions. Obit says Oline had a brother Otto living with her at one time; at one time Oline lived in North Bend. A 1972 interview ** with Agnes Flugstad age 92 (found with Google) places Otto Flugstad in North Bend in early years. The info matches are a little rough around the edges, true, but that's a lot of coincidences....

Poster's Oline #134 b. 3 April 1853
Kildeinformasjon: Oppland fylke, Fåberg, Ministerialbok nr. 5 (1836-1854), Fødte og døpte 1853, side 267-268.
Permanent sidelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8934&idx_id=8934&uid=ny&idx_side=-139

But no Oline Christiansdatter found born 23 Mar 1857 in Faaberg. Someone else can check me on this though.

We don't really know where Otto lived in his late teen years but perhaps he came there to his sister and brother-in-law sometime between 1888-1897 and very few records are readily available which would reflect that.

Oline Evenson and Otto Flugstad living together in 1920:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MF2S-KBB

This Otto is listed as single and age 53 which is a bit off, not mentioning of course the other Otto Flugstad is living with wife Agnes and sons Lawrence and Wilson in 1920. There must be two Otto Flugstad in the same county.....
